The name references a walrus penis bone, hence the tap handle. That’s Alaskan humour for you. The beer is less of a laughing matter. Cloudy amber, diacetyl and touch of biscuity malts, touch of biscuit and light caramel...thankfully tastes better than it smells.

I had this at Hangar on the wharf, Juneau AK.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was extremely hazy pale orange to red to brown (it kinda reminded me of a glossed over beer milkshake due to the haziness). There’s a slim white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute and left some light glazed over lacing.
The smell had a roasted bready maltiness running through some caramel malts.
The taste was heavy on the caramel malts and combining with the breadiness adequately. There was a dry roasty caramel finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent light carbonation running about it.
Overall, honestly it was just an okay red ale but I’m trying to figure out why a beer company would name a beer after a whale’s penis.

A golden amber ale with a thick mocha head. In aroma, a sweet chalky malt with very pils like features. In mouth, a smooth chalkey malt with grassy notes, mineral, so-so. On tap at Humpy’s Airport Concession, Oct. 9 2011.
