Draft at the source, as 2008 Beam Imperial Stout, 9.0% abv. Could be a different entry, I suppose. Black color, brown head with good retention. Aroma of burnt espresso, vanilla, subtle whiskey. Taste is boozy coffee and chocolate, light spice. Nice.

Draft. Blackish beer with an off-white head. Chocolate, oak, caramel aroma that lingers nicely. Chocolate, oak, vanilla, and caramel flavor. Body a bit thinner than to be expected. Oak lingers with caramel, chocolate, and some vanilla.

FoBAB 2007. Finally get to pop the cap on Alaska beers. And yes, it’s still aged in Ukranian oak. My first beer at FoBAB, so my perceptions are still relatively clean: Light cherry and grape smell. Oak is there; usually I don’t perceive it, but here it’s a light presence. Toffee and cherry taste. Alcohol seems a little strong, but not burning. Some young whiskey notes at the finish.

Draft at the Bistro BA Brew Fest 11/11/06; AKA Ukranian; Nose was coffe chocolate, toffee, and OAK!; opaque black with a small ring of tan bubbles; flavor of coffee, oak, roastiness, and spices.
