Dark with a brown head. Aroma is Worcestershire, roasted malt, light sour, some chocolate. Flavor has nice mid-range sourness, chocolate, some ham, and dark fruit. Tops.

On tap at GABF. Pours with a thick tan head over a near black body. Aromas are a bit funky, roasty, nutty, earthy and brett. Flavors are sour, bretty, roasty, nutty, and metal. Sour and roast are a tricky combination in my view. This doesn’t work too well. Medium bubbles, dry.

Draft. Murky brown color, tiny off white head. Aroma of cocoa powder and coffee grounds. Taste is gritty cocoa. Interesting.

4oz pour at Churchkey is a translucent, watery mahogany brown with a little spitty white head. Nose is light coffee, toasted bread, a little funk, light feet, some flowers. Flavor is dry malts, bread, coffee apple. The brett totally changes the mouth feel as the carbonation levels are different. The finish is dry overall. Reminded me a bit of the Smoke from the Oak base beer.

Draft at Capone’s. Thanks to jcwattsrugger for the share! Pours black. Brown head. Nose/taste of roast chocolate malts, vanilla, espresso and grass. Taste is same with light lemon zest and moderate sour notes. Medium body.

Growler. Pours a dark brown with a brown head that lasts throughout the beer and laces nicely. Aroma is full of earthy malts with a bit of wood, funk and a good amount of roast and toast notes. Flavor begins with a slight sour red fruit backed by dark grains, but the finish is full of dark grains and roasted malts. Interesting and pretty enjoyable.

From tap. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and slight fruity. Bitter, fruity and lingering dark malty. Lingering sweet fruity and dark roasted malty into the finish.
