Dark and Dry is made with a blend of apples and champagne yeast but caramelized sugar is added just before filtering to impart a deep bronze tone. White sugar is used in the Amber Cider.

Apple and oatmeal aroma, some cinnamon. Clear brown color. Thin mouthfeel, tart. I actually prefer the amber more. This is about a half knotch above their Granny Smith.

Amber color. Apple juice with some less sugars. Less interesting than other ciders, very simple.

Not quite as dark as a dark beer, but darker than any cider I have ever seen in my steeler stein. Delicious initial bite. Sweeter than most any beer. Finish has a slight strong apple peel flavor that lingers for just a short time. Pretty good. Can be compared to a very sweet stout or a weizenbock or weizen dunkle if you like sweet.

Bottle. Redish color. Aroma is again like the regular Woodchuck, but with a slight caramel aroma. Decent flavor, again of apple and some caramel.

bottle - Pours amber and clear with a thin white head. Thereโs a decent apple aroma. The flavor is kind of sweet, but not cloyingly sweet like the amber. I like the balance better on this one. Thereโs some tartness and a mildly dry finish. Not bad.

Not especially dry, with the addition of all that sugar. Looks like a thin brown ale. Lightly sweet, with a pleasant but unremarkable, standard cider flavor. Not as refreshing as some, but not heavy or filling.

2004 bottle. Though the description says it adds caramelized sugar (and Iโm sure they arent lying) the bottle just says, "caramel coloring". Interesting. Aroma of lightly sweet caramel notes, some dry appleskins, hint of yeast. Looks dark brown, almost chocolatey with some light purpleish tinges. Color aside (Iโll give them the benefit of the doubt on the coloring issue), this beer is anything but dry. I was hoping it would be dry, but no. This is sweet, too sweet, like too much apple sugar meets too much caramel sugar. Sugary, with a molasses/brown sugar thing going on. Yuck.

Not bad. Auburn tinted amber, with moderate fizz. Aroma is weak, of candy apples. Flavor is more sour-apple candy, modestly sweet, with a semi-dry finish. Despite its relative dryness this is overall a sweet fruity drink that does little to attract me. Its thin yet somewhat heavy-handed fruit body provides little complexity.

A strong amber coloured body with absolutely no head. Aroma of green apples, caster sugar, caramel and a slight amount of red apples. Sweet taste of red apples mixed with a bit of the granny smith tartness. Aftertaste is somewhat dry, but overall a bit sweet. The alcohol is hidden really well in this cider, I can detect nothing! Overall, a decent cider-good for a drinker who doesn't want that 'harsh alcoholic note'. I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Total Wine in Manassas, Virginia and sampled it on 22-December-2003.
