Ale Aged in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels
I awake from a slumber that’s been anything but peaceful. I don’t take kindly to idling and I am anything but neutral. Life has nothing to do with killing time, and the knowledge that months have passed since the onset of my sequestering in this pitch-black oaken tomb (albeit a barrel flush with brilliant aromas of vanilla and char) does not sit well. But then comes a tingle followed by rejuvenating warmth, signs that something is different…something has changed…and for the better.
I feel stronger yet somehow more nimble and refined. I feel even more self-assured, and my vision for what is good and right, honest and true, is as laser-sharp as the brawny, bawdy, liquid Arrogance that shall further advance my battle against all things mediocre and geared toward the lowest common denominator. I have been born anew and, in the process, anointed with vibrant, inspiring, previously unexperienced character, all while maintaining everything I am and have always been—bold, bullish, unadulterated, and yes, Arrogant.
Are you Worthy of quaffing a beverage of this intensity, irreverence and quality craftsmanship? Not likely, but for those who “get it,” I know my time in this bourbon barrel has not been wasted. Cheers to you, enlightened imbiber. On second thought, cheers to me!

Draught @ BA Hornstull. A sweeter and less bitter version of the bastard - not as arrogant. Notes of vanilla, almonds, chocolate and liquor.

Shared bottle at RB/HD at Sigmund´s 24.02.17. Pale copper. Small beige head. Aroma of dark caramel and sirup. Decent taste, with dark syrup, medium dark malt, berries and medium bitterness. And bourbon casks.

Shared 355 ml bottle at local tasting. Reddish brown colour. Malty aroma, slightly oxidised, with some caramel, notes of oak and bourbon, but not as distinct as expected. More distinct oak and bourbon / vanilla in the flavour, also distinct bittering hops.

Flaske delt på RBHD-treff hos Sigmund feb-17: lett uklar rødbrun med kort skum. Fatlagret, lett oksydert aroma og smak med karamell, rognebær (eller noe tilsvarende surt) og beske urter. Ikke god.. Barrel aging isn’t always that great.

Bottle at BKL2017. Very pretty Mahagoni, cloudy golden Mild wood, light bourbon, well balanced, pleasant to drink not overwrought like many other BB beers. Medium body, mellow, light sparkles.

Flaska från SB. Smak och doft av karamell, bourbon, fat, vanilj och ekträ. Stor sötma, lätt kropp, fruktig, fin beska. Något lätt kropp och väl enkel i sina smaker.

Creamy light brown head left a collar &spotty cover on a highly effervescent reddish brown body. Caramel, bourbon & malt aroma. Medium bodied, sharp to the fore with a creamy feel over the the tongue & sharp back. Bitter berries, oak, bourbon, tangy, under ripe fruit & raisin tastes with with very bitter citrus finish.

Clear deep amber brown colour, tall frothy off-white to beige head, good retention, heavy lacing. Strong wood & whisky nose, rich aroma, roasted malts, cocos, caramel, vanilla, whisky. Taste medium sweet and bitter, roasted malts, caramel, woody notes, retronasal cocos. Malty bittersweet aftertaste, spicy notes, dry bitter finish, woody and vanilla notes, touch of warming alcohol, medium to full-bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation. Rich and round, splendid!

Bottle at a tasting. Barrel influence is relatively strong, with coconut, and alcohol warmth being the most straight forward. Other than that it is mostly malty, caramelly, burnt sugar, toasted. Bitterness is high, but the hops character is almost nonexistent. Good, but not great.

Bottle kindly shared by rusos, many thanks. Amber color with medium beige head. Aroma of caramel malt, candies, oxidation, bourbon. Taste, sweet caramel malt, bourbon, oxidation, candy. Very good.
