Bottle thanks to Dusan & Simona. Simple pale ale. Too much body and caramel, does not let the hops shine. Otherwise ok.

Can with thanks to my wife! Pours murky, almost mudy amber, small white head, lasting, decent lacing. Aroma is corn syrup, vegetal, sharp and phenolic. Flavor is quite sweet, harshly bitter, very corny, unpleasant. Medium body, low carbonation. Lingering metallic bitterness.

Snagged the last bottle of Miyajima’s Pale Ale at Isetan tonight. It pours a murky orange gold with quite a nice fruity pine hop bouquet featuring pineapple & passion fruit. A zesty carbonation on a med-light body. The flavor has clove phenols which is more Weizen like. The hop bitterness isn’t so apparent while it has a somewhat astringent character to it. Not bad but way too phenolic for a pale ale in my opinion, not to style. Looking at the label it seems this version was made at Yamaguchi Narutaki Kogen Brewery.

Ambar.

Re-rate 10/17: Bottle shared at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks mom for this bottle! Floral, minerals, a bit of yeast, bitterish, soapy hint. OK. 6/3/6/3/12=3
Bottle shared at a tasting at Alexey & Rafaela’s place. Thanks mom for this bottle! Hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of hops, floral with a citric note, a soapy note and a cardboard hint. Flavor has light sweetness, a bit of malt, some floral hops, a yeasty note, and a bitterish finish. Medium-bodied. Quite alright. 5/3/6/3/12=2.9

330 ml bottle from a steamed bun vendor at Miyajima. Poured into a hotel glass. Murky brown with off-white head that fades rapidly. Aromas of green apple, floral and vegetal notes. Tastes of apples, herbs, lime citrus. Light body with a dry finish. Strange. Not enjoyable, dumping this one.

Can bought in Hiroshima Station. Big buttery caramel and toffee nose, plus fruit. Very strange. Taste is sweet and rancid toffee, butterscotch, lots of fruit, some hops in the finish for bittering. Very strange and nasty. Guess it’s the pale ale, but it’s awful. Thin body, muddy, ugly looking too. Hope they do better when they brew their own.

33 cl can @ hotel room, Hiroshima. 4,5% on the can. Produced on 29.8.2011, BBE 27.2.2012
Aroma is rather weird and yeasty with very mature fruits and berries with some sugary raisins. Sticky palate is low on CO2. Flavour is also weird, sweet and very yeasty with rather mature – almost rotten – fruits. Also some alcohol. One weird beer.

Bottle courtesy of MrChopin that remained unidentifiable for weeks. Clear orange color, small white head. Aroma of orange peel and straw. Taste has a bit of bitter citrus. Interesting.
