Notes from March 2011 Caught my second wind & decided to have a few pints over dinner @ CBC Sunday night after EBF. Sampled their sake hybrid again as well, & oh man did that stuff just not sit well. I'm sure this IPA didn't go down as pleasantly as it could have as a result. Anyway, standard pint glass, well endowed white head that deflates quickly. Mellow gold, chill-hazed color. Smells like a standard ipa. Large amounts of irritating hedge clippings & rindy notions. Bold & brash, appearing bigger then it really is. A touch earthy, but mostly a leafy citrus. Taste is crisp with bitter greens, clenching pith, & wintergreen mint. Bit of a dry toast character in there, but otherwise, one-sided. Refreshing for the desensitized IPA fan. Difficult for those who still enjoy a more flavorful dry hop. Carbonation is well in line, & the beer is overall pretty dry. Though the alcohol, lower then a standard ipa, seemed to disperse in aerosol form, leaving a Lysol-like residual in my nose & throat. One of the few less then amazing beers I've had from CBC.

Draft at the brewery, 1/15/19.
Lightly hazy, brass-golden-blonde. White head quickly to ring.
Smells grassy and with a touch of pine. Lots of melon and biscuit here. Some light onion with lots of vegetal character. No alcohol or resin.
Soft and chewy in the mouth with plentiful biscuit and light white bread-like malts. No sweetness yet little bitterness. Grass, lemon and unripe melon. Not sure why anyone likes this hop but this rendition is wholly inoffensive. Light butter, grass, cream and hop acid linger.

On tap. Pours with a clear golden hued body with a small white head. Aromas are herbal, tea, fruity, esters, weed, wheat/grainy, citrus, pine and a odd spicy character (curry?). Flavors are grainy, spicy and hoppy (notes of citrus, pine). A bit grassy in the finish. Medium carbonation, a bit lighter bodied.

A golden ale with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, a herbaceous hops, lightly floral, orange pulp, biscuit malt, nice and smooth. In mouth, a smooth IPA with intense bitter floral hops, white grapefruits, menthol, bready malt, in your face low abv IPA. For hopheads! On tap at brewpub, Sept. 11 2011.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear yellow with a white head that lasted throughout the beer and laced nicely. Aroma had a pretty strong biscuit note with backing notes of pine and grass. Flavor began with strong grapefruit and was joined by pine with a hint of grapefruit. A bit too much biscuit for me.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is peachy and citrusy. Strawberry fruity and peachy flavoured. Bitter and towards dense grapefruity dry and bitter. Lasting bitter and citrusy impression. The strawberry like note really disturbs me, disapeared as the beer heated up.
