(bottle, 75cl) Hazy, dark amber colour with a beige and dense foamy head. Nutty and mildly toasted malty aroma with notes of caramel, hints of oaky vanilla and a moderately resiny and subtle fruity touch of aroma hops, accompanied by a whiff of alcohol. Moderately sweet and rounded bitter flavour, full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Mildly toasted malt-character with nutty notes, caramel, herbs, vanilla and a subtle vinous fruity touch; very smooth and lasting sweet-bitter and vinous finish. Excellent ! 07.III.12

Bottle: Almost clear, reddish-amber coloured, fluffy off-white head, toasty and slightly vinous-caramelly nose (Port or so...), some woody traces underneath; solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied; lingering soft caramelly-fruity and - that is understood - dry hoppy finish with a sweet cough-syrupy and caramelly counterpart. 750ml bottle from DoctorB2B in a trade. Thanks sir! Decided to drink this one for my 500th rating! Poured into a snifter. Pours a lightly cloudy dark amber and ruby red with a huge frothy head. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, citrus hops and some oak. Taste is medium bitter with caramel, citrus and oak. Full bodied with a thick texture. Lively carbonation and a long bitter finish. Overall, this beer is great. I’m going to have to get my hands on another one to let age for a while.

Bottled@omhper. Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is hops, malts, caramel, some slight chocolate and also rather grassy and floral notes lurking. Flavour is hops, malts, a bit nutty as well as quite sweet fruity notes. Balanced.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 8 Oct 2011) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, dried fruit and earthy hops. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, dried fruit, orange peel and a generous earthy bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a slight sweetness. Powerful and tasty. Very nice.

Bottled, thanks tkrjukoff (wasn’t it?) Cloudy copper colour, small head. Slight grapefruit aroma Plenty of caramel, some menthe. Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Massive caramelly malt covered in a thick blanket of salty grapoefruit hops. Really bitter finish.

And yeah, courtesy of Per, thanks! Lovely amber-red body. Off white head. Sweet malty nose, honey, light fruit - berry jam, bit alcohol, slightly sticky. Complex but not that brilliant for me. Lovely fruity - rosehip vs. berry jam notes on top of a slightly sticky, slightly salty unappealing body. Ends bitter, but not too enjoyable. Goes from great to meh in seconds.

A hazed brown barley wine with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, beautiful sweet caramel malt with vinous notes, treacle, light butterscotch, alcohol warmth, light oxidation, light fruity esters, dark fruits, very nice and complex. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with light vinous notes, resinous floral hops, light treacle, alcohol warmth, dark fruits, molasses, very nice and solid after more than 7 years. Bottle at OttBottShare April 2018.
