Sour ale aged with pluots.
Golden Ale aged in used wine barrels for 8 to 12 months with Brett and bacteria. After the barrel aging we transfer the beer onto approximately one pound of pluots per gallon of beer, this takes about 3 to 4 months. From here the beer is transferred off the fruit and eventually kegged. A pluot is a cross between a plum and an apricot, pluots are derived from plumcots, a fruit bred by Luther Burbank.

Bottle shared by Adam, thanks! Pours a near clear dull copper with a thin off white head that dissipates completely. Aroma has a slightly mentholy funk with a bit of tart citrus and some sweet grains underlying. Flavor has a combination of light menthol and tart citrus with a bit of sweet grains underlying.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma is nice and fruity with moderate pluot notes, light lemon, pineapple and grape must notes. Light oak notes with faint earthy, musty, herbal phenolic notes. Pours a hazy, orange-red with a small, thick, creamy, white head that recedes to the edges where it lingers. Light lacing and faint legs. Flavor is moderately acidic with a medium light sweetness. Hints of grain notes with moderate pluot notes. Light musty grape notes with hints of citrus and pineapple. Faint earthy, herbaceous phenolic notes and light oak. Hints of alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice beer; probably my favorite sour from Russian River. Solid fruity notes that work well with the base sour blonde.

Draft at Russian River. Nose is fruity pluots (mostly plum rather than apricot ), woodiness, a slight funkiness, and a tart citrus. Murky orange tinged yellow with a medium heavy lacing yellow tinged head. Flavor is lightly tart and fruity with a slight wine note from the barrels. I’ve waited since 2008 to taste this missing it by a few days several times.
