Hoptober Golden Ale

Bottle. This is another one of those types of beers that can make a malt lover really appreciate hops. Fantastic fruity, floral taste. Perfumey smell. Just a great beer. Highly recommended.

A hazed golden ale with a thick frothy white head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with light sulfur notes, so-so. In mouth, a sweetish malt with light fruity esters, faint grassy hops, OK. Bottle Oct. 2011.

This ale poured a Clear amber colour with a fizzy, off white coloured head. To the nose there are scents of strong hopps. Citrus and spruce with a hint of celery. First sip was alot more watery than I thought from the smell. Flavours of orange /lemon citrus most prodominant. Other flavours of grass and spruce a close second. Finish is hoppy but not as bitter as you’d expect.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best by Nov 20, 2011. Pours hazy golden straw color with a nice 2 finger dense white head with great retention that reduces to a cap. Some nice lacing down the glass as well. Aromas of grapefruit, floral, orange, apricot, light caramel, bread, and a bit of wheat. Some nice aromas with decent strength. Taste of nice grapefruit, pine, floral, orange, bread, light pine, spices, and wheat. Good amount of bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, pine, spiciness, bread, and light caramel for a bit on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel that drinks smoothly. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming after the finish. Overall a nice and drinkable blonde ale. Quite enjoyable and definitely a nice option for a session. It is nicely balanced in flavors and not anything extreme that would make it unpalatable after a few glasses.

Aroma: The nose is fairly citrusy, with some floral and grassy hops, and a little spice
Appearance: The pour is a mostly clear golden-orange color with a fizzy white head and medium lace
Flavor: Tastes light-medium sweet, citrusy, and medium hoppy bitter, with similar components to the nose
Palate: The body is medium (leaning a touch light), with an average carbonation, and slightly tingly finish
Overall Impression: This is a surprisingly solid offering. I wasn't really expecting that much from this one, but it was better then I expected, and had some nice components to it. I thought there was a pretty solid hop profile on the nose. The flavor was decent as well, and for the price, this is a really good buy. Anyway, a nice offering, and rather drinkable.

4oz sample from Buffalo Wild Wings. Pours a clear gold with about a finger of white head. Aroma of light citrus and piney hops. Taste is medium bitter. Pine hops and caramel. Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long bitter finish. Overall, very good. I wish it was still around.

Great little seasonal that pisses in the face of the Marzen onslaught. Biscuity and bright with a mild citric hop backbone, plus a solid bitterness that toughens up the finish. Nice golden hue, too.

Nice fruity hops on the nose. Clear pale gold with billowy white head and great lacing. Champagne like bubbling. Chewy medium mouthfeel leads to biscuit and bitterness on final taste. Hop flavor is restrained.
