A dark reddish brown stout wit a thin brown head. In aroma, light sweet chocolate malt with light coffee grains notes. In mouth, a smooth and delicious milkey chocolate with light coffee notes, vanilla, very nice. On tap at Harrisburg location, April 10th, 2011.

12oz bottle. Got at a random craft beer store in Philadelphia. Pored into a snifter. Pours very dark brown with tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, and a bit of light coffee. Flavors of roasted malts, coffee, and some chocolate. Finishes dry. Decent stout. I’ve had other sweet stouts that where a bit better then this one. But still good.

Bottle. Completely black, large brown head with great retention. Aroma of powdered milk chocolate and subtle brandy. Taste is dark fruits, primarily prunes, dark milk chocolate, raisins. Medium body. Nice example of the style.

0.33L bottle, small thick brown head, opaque black colour with some brownish hints, aroma of barnyard, porcini mushrooms and coffee, flavour of coffee, dark chocolate and some suprising fruitiness, long sour aftertaste. Extremely good.

Bottle. Beer of the Month club. Black-colored with only a tiny bit of brown foam. Aroma of milk-chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt and a bit of sugariness. Sweet flavor with milk-chocolate, roasted grains, a bit of nuts, sour notes and light fruitiness. Finishes roasty, drier and slightly herbal. Medium-bodied. Pretty good.

Served on draft at the Lancaster location. Pours a pitch black color with a creamy tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Dark and malty aroma with notes of chocolate and smoke. The taste is bitter hops, chocolate, a lactose like sweetness, caramel and a bit of smoke. Smooth, medium bodied.

12 oz bottle into English pint. Thanks, brenn79! Aromas of chocolate milk, coffee, grain; a sweet smell. Wonderful aroma here. Pours opaque black with a medium head that dissipates fairly quick, leaving a scrim of foam floating on the surface and creamy lacework. Taste is not as sweet as the aroma. It’s bitter, sour, then finishes with a touch of sweetness. Carbonation is high, mouthfeel is creamy. A fine stout.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Gilly's, 9/24/09

Aroma: Mostly sweet roasted malts with mild coffee & chocolate
Appearance: Dark brown color, fizzy brown head that dissipates quickly
Flavor: Roasted malty flavor, but just a touch thin & one dimensional
Palate: Like the flavor the mouthfeel is a touch thin, light-medium bodied
Overall Impression: I've had this one a few times before, but this is my first time rating it. It is a pretty decent beer, but unfortunately it just isn't powerful or complex enough to be more then decent. Not a bad beer, just not exciting enough for me to go much higher then this on the score. A drinkable, but hardly memorable stout.
