A dark reddish amberalt with almost no head (cask). In aroma, rather sweet candy, cinnamon hearts, a tad cloying. In mouth, a rather lifeless light malt with faint wooden notes, rather boring and missing the point...an alt on oaks....On tap at ChurchKey DC, Sept. 18 2010.

Draft at Churchkey. I’m basing the review from the order the bartender said the beers were, so I’m assuming they didn’t get the beers mixed up with the other two versions. This poured a clear copper color, small white head. Aroma was sweet, almost candy like. Flavor was a touch roasted, sweet malts, tinge of bitter hop finish.

cask draft @ Paradiso, DC. Collaboration ale, pours light copper, off-white head. aroma, lightly yeasty, notes of caramel malts, dark fruits. flavors, thin body, malty and grainy, touch of caramel, some floral hops, low carbonation (even for a cask), lingering bitter pilsner/dark crystal malts. Didn’t pick much of estery profile of the style, even the malt profile was lacking any character.

Draft at Pizzeria Paradiso. Apparently there are 3 versions of this one, each brewed separately (although to the same recipe) at Chophouse, Gordon Biersch and Capitol City. Cask. Clear amber color, thick but small off white head. Aroma of taffy. Taste is scotch, bitter. Thin body. Average.
