This is wonderful. Citrusy and sweet. A tad piney. Gus Poyet.

From a bottle to tulip glass. Solid hop aroma. Pours an amber-orange with white head. Flavor is slightly cloying, with overt cracker and bread loaf malt with restrained citrus.

Hazy golden and straw coloured body with a dense, two centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of fresh herbal and grassy hops with a good deal of coriander seed freshness, some alcohol and a rather yeastie smell along with some barnyard elements - interesting in the nose. Full-bodied; Rich dense yeast flavours dominate with some grassy malt, a hint of citrus and orange flavours and a piney and resinous finish with a lot of alcohol and some strongish sugars. Aftertaste shows the sugars, oranges, grass and light herbal hop notes, but the alcohol and sweetness comes through at the end. Overall, a nicely rich and laced beer with some complexity that you typically don’t see in this style. That said, this isn’t that great of an Imperial IPA and I’m guessing gets a lot of it’s positive reviews from reputation votes. It’s a fine beer, but not great for the style nor worth searching out for. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Cary, North Carolina on 02-August-2014 for US$2,99 sampled at home in Washington on 16-September-2014.

From notes, 4 oz cask pour consumed on 5/18/2013 at ChurchKey. Dry hopped with Simcoe in the cask. Hazy apricot orange with off-white head. Head fades quickly. Aromas of oranges, apricots, light caramel. Tastes of apricot, candied fruit, light booze. Medium body with a semi-dry finish. Medium-light carbonation, juicy mouthfeel.

Bottle from trade with jtclockwork, many thanks James. Orange golden color with medium white head. Malty aroma with honey and citrus hops. Taste, solid malty base followed by nic hoppy kick with oranges, tangerines, orange zest, pines, resin. Long fruity, hoppy bitter finish. Very good.

10oz pour at Big Hunt in DC. Pours a hazy orange with some thin, creamy, white head. Nose has a mix of sweet malt, a little caramel, some mild candy and pine, soap, orange, grapefruit. Flavors are the same, a little butterscotch lurking, some reduced orange juice, pithy, piney too. Lightly sticky finish but also quite drinkable at 9%.

12 ounce bottle. Amber orange color with small rocky white head. Sweet tropical fruit malt nose has notes of duck sauce and butterscotch. Flavor upfront is toasted malt with more butterscotch and notes of mango. Mid taste has notes of resiny hops and sweet alcohol. This is a big brew that drinks small, as DIPA’s go!

Very light haze on this gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and slightly viscous, semi dry with fine carbonation. Smooth malts precede alcohol dryness and spice. Little resinous pine and citrus. Mild hop spice. Light finish. Clunky but passable.
