Bold, spicy, menacingly delicious HopDevil takes on an entirely new dimension when subjected to a wild yeast fermentation. A sharp, sourish edge has been added by this fermentations that plays into the caramel sweet malt deliciously and creates complex interplay with citrus accented hops.

2009 vintage. Not good. Something has went seriously wrong here. No sourness at all. Wet cardboard, dirty hay, barnyard grossness. The only real flavors i get is old earthy hops and dirty wheat. Meh.

Bomber courtesy of Marsiblursi. Pours very hazy dark orange with a huge frothy offwhite head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and fruity with plums, pineapple, peaches, wood,  dark grapes, dry soil, orange peal, cloves, crackers, grass, lemon peal, grapefruit juice, caramel, brett and hints of lemon balm, Thai basil and passion fruit. Taste is sweet, bitter and tiny sour with pineapple, passion fruit, mango, orange peal, lemon peal, pine, fresh grass, lemon grass, wet soil, caramel, tropical fruit popsicle, brett, lemon hard candy, hay, white pepper, black pepper, cloves, dry soil and hints of barnyard. Mouthfeel is crisp, tiny dry, tiny tart and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and tiny sour with cloves, dry soil, orange peal, peaches, pineapple, passion fruit, hay, brett and cloves. Another excellent farmhouse style ale.

Bottle @ home. I should have read the previous reviews- this baby shot off gushing like champagne and I lost 1/3 of it to my pants and the couch. Cloudy, reddish orange appearance with a light brown head. Mildly cohort, barnyard, citrus fruity, slightly tart but mostly funky aroma. Tangy, moderately funky, lightly sour, mild caramel, slightly floral hoppy, orange citrus fruity, wild yeasty flavor. Tangy, funky aftertaste. I’m not a huge fan.

Hazy medium orange/amber body, thick puffy light beige head. Nose of soapy hops, tart pineapple, and dusty esters. Body is dusty and toasty with sourish yeast notes (primarily pineapple), faded floral hops, and bread dough. Pillowy mouthfeel. Great blend of floral, herbal hops, bread dough, and yeast.

Bottled. A dark golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has strong notes of brettanomyces combined with medium notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet and acidic with notes of brettanomyces combined with caramel, leading to a dry and tart finish. Thanks Dr. Bill for sharing.

750 ml bottle. Pretty brown-orange color with an enormous head. Funky, dusty aroma with minerals, slight fruit, quite lambic like. Some caramel in the flavor, light fruit, big bitterness and a dirty dryness. Strongly sour as well. Very funky, with a slight citrus hop taste too. Interesting, though a bit harsh. Huge carbonation. Very nice.

Holy hell that’s a gusher! C&C 750 mL bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Bot Apr 22 2008. Pours a very murky orange color with a head that is quite voluminous. Head continues to ooze out of the bottle and it took about ten minutes to pour about half the glass. Nice aroma of caramel, stone fruits and a moderate amount of brett. Strong citrus hops in the finish. The taste is big musty slightly barnyardy brett with some citrus hops and a malty caramel finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good beer.
