Bomber from Bruisin Ales. Pours really dark brown with a foamy, clingy 4 finger beige/tan head. Aromas of dark malt and some hop. Medium plus body with lots of foamy carbonation. Flavor is very hoppy. The rye harshness, sorry other rye lovers, is present, there’s a strong hint of coffee/chocolate, and there’s a lot of hop bitter. Love rye. Love hops. Love this.

beer of summer @ OTH. dark brown, beige head. aroma, malty, roasted with a strong rye aroma. flavors, nice mix of the hops and roast along with some coffee and chocolate. Rye profile is really forward while the finish keeps a hop citrus/grapefruit that is a little too dominant.

Nice rich pitch black coloured body (100% opaque) with a thin, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of malt, coffee, alcohol, chocolate and a touch of rye- very nice actually! Medium-bodied; Assertive flavours up front with hops the most prevalent. Deep pungent rye and malt come through with a little roasted caramel and some deep coffee tastes. Aftertaste shows a lot of bitterness - ranging from hops to rye - nice. Overall, a nice beer, that shows a lot of strong flavours, but finishes relatively mildly and has a pleasant dryness at the end - true to style as well. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Total Wine Alexandria, Virginia on 15-June-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 20-June-2010.

Bert, you are killing these lager lovin taste buds of mine! Big heavy Pine insulting tar mouthy implosion. On style for anything imperial style. Alky laced porter IPA aroma, mostly IPA or I guess its now RPA. If I closed my eyes I would never think of this as being dark. Man, porter has sure gone a long way from those smooth dark lager related porters of recent past, you know, 25 years ago. Oh, now I feel some of that porter background a few minutes after each swig if I can wait long enough. Big terrible rototilling master plastic blaster bitter medicine linger. Hah, so this is what porter has come to, like everything else, an experimental imperial double this that: yow, wew and zoopie. At nearly 8%, I think I’m getting happily dizzy towards the end of the glass. What a beer and a big thankle for sloth sending me this, such a great trader. You ROCK!

22oz bottle pours a lightly viscous, opaque black with a creamy, slightly beige head. Aromas of candy, hops, pumpernickel bread, spices. Flavor is lemons, grapefruit, a little milk chocolate, sweet caramel. Finish is sweet and bitter. Not what I expected but I thought it was really good none the less. Drink this fresh, the hops give it the unique character.

This brew pours dark brown with some amber highlights around the edges. Medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is piney hops with notes of rye. Medium body with flavors of hops, pine, bittersweet chocolate and rye. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness underscored by toasted rye bread. Overall this is a solid Porter that actually reminded me of a lot of Black IPAs I have tried recently.

Pours mahogany tinged black into an English pint. Off-white head with excellent retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Sweet rye aromas. Smoked nuts and pumpernickel toast from front to back. Lasting bitter resin finish.
