22 fl oz bottle, handbottle, courtesy of Papsoe. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark malty, alcohol presence too. Dark malty flavoured, vague liqourice, overripe fruity and dense barley malt. Mild bitterness lurking through. Lasting dark malty and roasted finish. Nice one.

Cloudy mahogany with a tiny beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel, toffee, fruity and hoppy hints. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, caramel, hops and dark fruits. Finished slightly sweet and bitter. Nice balance. Liked it.

Tasting at Papsø, handbottle
Hazy dark brown color with red shades; small creamy head. Mild aroma, some roasted malts and yeast/cheese, light honey. Caramel flavor, some sweetness, then some darker caramel; correct bitterness. It’s just a Strong Ale with a strong dark caramel character and decent sweetness, nothing impressive.

Handbottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Cletus. Pours a clear, warm reddish brown with a rough off-white head. Sweet aroma of roasted malt and dried fruits. Medium body, sweet and rich with lots of dark dried fruit, a little metallic but also quite some roast. A little malt bitterness. Not all that barleywineish, but still very pleasant. 230410

A dark clear brown barley wine with a thin off white head. In aroma, light sweet caramel malt with light vinous overtones, and warming alcohol. In mouth, a rather light sweet barleywine with some good Brit hops presence, sustained bitterness, Belgian influences, like a Dubbel, not bad but lacking something. On tap at brewpub, Feb. 26 2010.

Several pints out of a growler. Pours a deep, translucent brown with a creamy white head. Malty, sugary aroma, lightly nutty. Very sweet flavor, brown sugar, light orange, malts. Medium bodied and otherwise fairly mild and an easy drinker.
