From May 2006

Poured from 12oz bottle(rom temp) a deep amber brown with a large head of foam that dissipated quickly leaving a fine layer that stayed for the entire session.

The smell is a nice roasted malt nose with a touch of nuttiness.

The taste is a very nice semi sweet roasted malt with some nuttiness and chocolate tones. Yumm...this is one good Brown Ale.

Bottom line: This is a very drinkable and flavourful Brown Ale that I can easily find and recommend. I think I'll stock up on it! ;^)

Nice looking dark and dusky red liquid with a good off-white head and lots of lacing. Pleasant, natural aroma. The flavors work in concert, rather than separately. The aroma has a lot of malt with a great nutty background. Very good beer. Light and nutty flavor. It’s a good brown ale, if not a highly complex one. Every beer doesn’t have to be a jigsaw puzzle and this beer works definitely accomplishes its goals. Feel is a bit thin, perhaps. There’s nothing really wrong the feel given the abv. A very sessionable beer.

courtesy of screamforme. pour a deep red-copper with beige head. Aroma of nice floral hops / blossom and a fruity aroma that reminded me of raspberries without the tart. Taste is light, malty and hoppy, light touch of caramel. Yeast comes forward with faint touch of nuts. Finish is light, crisp, some bitterness and caramel. Good beer, sessionable.

Bottle. Pours with a tan head and an amber brown body. Good lace. Aroma of hops, vanilla, maple, nuts and light spice. Taste is nutty with maple and molasses. Light bubbles dryish. Solid like all of Deschutes’s stuff, but some what forgettable.

On draught at the New York Hotel (Ketchikan Coffee Company) in Ketchikan, AK. This beer pours a dark amber-brown color with a thin and lasting beige head. Stringy lacing on the glass. Roasted malt and nuts in the nose, along with some fruit. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted nuts, malt, chocolate and a bit of hops. The finish is sweet and malty with a lingering hops and fruit aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

12 oz bottle from Country Club Liquors; Nose is nutty, caramel, and a vanilla note; clear rust brown with a medium, glass-lacing, long-lasting head; flavor is brown sugar, caramel, and a bit of bitterness. Beautiful beer, body a little thinner than I like.

Bottle. Malty aroma. Poured red-brown with a lasting pale tan head. Malty flavour with a medium to thin body. Ordinary beery finish. This beer began better than it ended, but I would drink it again.
