One of the many 'national' versions of Star in Africa, this time from Sierra Leone, locally brewed to the recipe of the Nigerian original (developed in 1946 by Heineken and the UAC); thanks tderoeck for the sample. Seems capable of producing a frothy snow white head but my sample did not show a lot of enthusiasm in that field anymore; pale yellow golden blonde robe. Aroma of dry cereals, green tea, dried thyme, cooked rice, wet straw. Neutral onset, slick rice-like 'glueishness', plastery yet thin and grainy, with a 'sweaty' note at the back as well as something lightly sulfuric, but hardly any hop bitterness at all. Below par - but I was not expecting anything better than this, to be honest (considering that even fresh Star, albeit in some of the other 'national' variants I had, was all but satisfying, mildly put).

Sampled at Tim's place, huge thanks! Clear pale golden color, small white lacing. Aroma is malts, dusty, lettuce. Flavor is malts, hayish a bit, decently bitter and it actually has some body.

Can shared thanks to Razvan. Clear light golden. Sweet malts, yoghurt, weird weeds, buckwheat, light sour grains. Yeah this is weeeiiird and not very nice.

Panda thanks to Cloin and his Pale Lager dealers. Pours hazy orange gold with a thin white head. Aroma is cardboard, malt, hint of apple, dough. Taste is damp cardboard, malt, hint of apple. OK for what it is.

Country scope panda, thanks to SHIG, 04/07/21. Clear golden with a thin white cap. Nose is dusty fruit esters, corn husk, vegetal notes, cereals. Taste comprises pale malts, grains, cereals, paper, dusty fruit notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Passable country tick kind of affair.

Sample @ Rare Country Tick Extravaganza, Part 1. Many thanks to Grumbo for this. Shared with BlackHaddock. Pours a generally clear gold, white foam atop. Corny introduction on the nose, rice perhaps, fine carbonation, a touch metallic, thin low-bodied sweetness. Passable.
