Trocken, in sehr milden Grundzügen Geuze-artig. 8/10/9/10/11/10

A careful pour produces a clear golden amber colored elixir with a thin bubbly white head that dissipates quickly but leaves a cap on top and some lacing on the sides. Smells of citrus and phenolics, plums, spicy yeast and funk. Taste is tart and fruity with a barnyard edge. Finishes sweet with a bit of astringency and leaves a lingering tart bitterness on the tongue. Crisp carbonation, sticky mouthfeel, medium to thick body. Nice little saison, bier de garde. Tart and fruity I enjoyed this one. If only it wasn’t so pricey.

2006 vintage, 750ml bottle. Pours a hazy, burnt orange with a creamy, white head. Nose is cheesy, spicy, brett, toast, herbs. Flavor is tart, cherries, lemon, herbs. Medium bodied, tart finish. Starting to mellow just a touch.

A déguster.

Oh wow, really this old? Well, picked up a bottle - unaware of what it was. Poured a copper color, slightly cloudy, thick head. Yeast, spices, etc. Flavor was alright - though a bit spicy for my likes.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is dry hoppy and mild fruity. Smooth fruity and barrel like. Bitter, dry and distinct grapefruity. Mild citric note. Light fruity impression. Mild acetone to phenolic note. Lasting cherry fruity to wooden impression.

Courtesy of the one and only Gillard. It pours hazy copper with orange hues and loose thin off white head. The aroma is a bit musty with malts, spicy hops, dark berry fruitiness and smooth sweet sweetness. The taste is a bit bright with a mix of berry sweetness and tartness as well as caramel candy. The finish fades away with the aid of modest berry tartness.

5th July 2008. Cloudy brown beer. Strong orange and grapefruit with a little spice. Dry zesty finish. Just a shade too sour to be great.

33 cL swingtop from Once Upon a Vine South, Richmond, VA. Pours a fairly murky yellow-brown color with white floaties, some of them fairly large. Medium head with decent head retention and lacing. Aroma is citrus, light funk and light hop notes. Taste is quite funky with huge citrus notes, caramel and a slightly bitter, minty, leafy hop note in the finish. Some pineapple, berry and other fruits. Medium bodied. Just like most of their brews this one is odd, interesting and quite good.
