Bomber - pours a lightly hazy gold, with a small, soapy lace - aroma of herbal hops and buttered toast - oily mouthfeel, moderate carbonation - flavor of astringent hop bitterness, honey sweetness, fairly noticeable diacetyl - the hops get even more astringent in the finish - it takes a lot of effort to fuck up an IPA, but by God, they’ve done it (okay, maybe "fuck up" is strong, since I’m still gonna drink this whole damn bomber) - disappointing considering the other Left Coast/Oggis brews I’ve had have been quite solid - I now hold out no hope for the bottle of Tripel I also bought today.

Draft at Garden Grove location; Nose of citrus hops. Clear gold with a medium white head. Flavor is light bitterness. OK but not that hoppy!

22 oz bottle purchased at Chris’ Liquors in San Diego, California. Pour is hazed golden amber with a one inch white head that falls pretty fast. A couple of chunkies floating around. Aroma is initially quite skunky, but that dissipates pretty fast. Behind that is some chemical cardboard, oxidation. Taste is pretty oxidized right away, with vegetal taste and strong citrus orange and grapefruit hop bitterness behind the cardboard. Very grapefruit in character, some light straw malt way in the background. Finish is earthy, with persistent black pepper spiciness. Palate is thin to medium, light carbonation - a little dead tasting. I am certain this bottle was less than 100%.

(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of fordest. Pours a hazy amber golden with floating impurities and a creamy, off-white head. Lightly perfumy nose with yeast and diacetyl. Medium-bodied, some fruit and caramel with a solid, bitter finish. I could have hoped for a more distinct and clean hoppiness. This is just bitter and very dry. 190408

Bottled. An unclear orange beer with yeast sediment floating around under a huge cream colored head. The aroma is sweet mlaty combined with notes of citrus and flowers. The flavor is sweet and acidic with strong notes of fruit (peaches being strongest) and spices - especially coriander on a malty back ground, but also with an alcohol note that leaves a burn on the tongue. The finish is dry and spicy.

Blind tasting at Papsoes place, another great session, thanks Henrik! Beer #5: Pours hazy to cloudy orange with a huge white head. Aroma is dry hoppy and light pinewood, mild orange peel note in addition. Flavour is fruity hops with a subdued caramel malt base. Dry hops finish. Lingering dry and light fruity finish. Shows an additive note what could remind me of added spices, but I guess it is the hops.

Sample at the Santa Clarita location. Pours a clear golden-amber color with a medium and foamy white head that diminishes slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops and grapefruit. Medium-bodied and moderately hoppy with touches of malt and flowers. The finish is dry and mildly bitter with a short hops aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Bottle shared by Pailhead. Clearish orange/amber body, thin buff head. Piney hops backed by bready malt nose, typical IPA. Bready body, the piney hops somewhat faded. Light citrus. Lingering, bitter finish. Decent.

On tap @ Oggis Santee. Pours clear deep gold with thin white head. The aroma is light with sweet caramelized malts and hints of citrus hops. The flavor is pretty smooth and too subtle for the style with sweet lightly roasted malt note, a hint of biscuit malts and grapefruit hop bitterness. Toward the finish the malts kick it up a notch then hop bitterness lingers into the after taste.
