Bottle. Dark amber colour, small golden head. Aroma is malty, brown bread, bit of spice, slight fruitiness. Taste is lightly spicy, bready malt again, little bit if strawberry. Little bit of bitterness at finish.

330ml bottle from a shop in Gora. Malty caramel aroma, fine head but not long lasting. A bit of caramel aftertaste, but not quite enough flavor. Minimal hops. Needs a bit more of something.

Bottle from 7/11 in Hakone as Hakone Sichitou Red Ale. Pours a hazy brown with a finger of off-white head that lingers. Light on the palate without much aroma present. Some cocoa and chocolate cake notes on the palate, cherry and fall fruit. Soft mouthfeel, similar to old cola. Light finish with some lingering plum. Not bad.

At a tasting, as Hakone Sichitou Red Ale, thanks, small bubbly head, very hazy red to light brown color, aroma of caramel and sour fruits, bland malty flavor with a hint of hay, light bitterness. So so.

Bottle shared at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks mom for this bottle! As Hakone Shichitou Red Ale. 5%. Hazy red-amber color. Aroma of malt, toast, a fruity note, a bit of cardboard. Sweetish flavor with malt, caramel, a bit of toast, light fruitiness, a light cardboard note, and a drier finish. Light to medium-bodied. Easy-drinking.

Tap at Beer Fes Osaka 2015. Actually, from the bottle I think. Pretty red-amber color. Decent malty nose, caramel, fruits, cherry. Nice fruity flavors, light and clean. Well made.

On tap at GJBF Osaka 2015. A beautiful orange-reddish brown pour with a plum like sweet fruity aroma. Rich malty fruit flavor - very nice taste and quite a solid beer.

330 ml bottle from Hakone. Pours reddish brown, mahagony with a thin bubble layer. Aroma has some malt warmness, sweet berries and wet cardboard. Taste is quite smooth, has a bit of carbonation, slight soft fruitiness and ending up in a bitter but not very intensive aftertaste. Lasts long though and feels dry. Actually not too bad, much better than available macro’s in the market. Having said that, it is also not too exciting.

12 oz. bottle @ Hiroba, Omotesando, Tokyo. Red-brown color, clear. Off white head. Aroma’s: sweet malts, caramel, spices (cinnamon?), hints of fruit. Flavor is only lightly sweet. Body is light. Caramel and burned sugar in the finish. OK.

Deep amber color, light malty nose with hints of caramel. Light and non-descript, pretty much like all of their beers.
