The Citra hop was developed and patenetd in the USA and was first used in the UK in 2009, by Oakham Ales. Its distinctive citrus aroma has proved hugely popular ever since, creating a deliciously refreshing beer with fruit aromas and a dry finish.

The flavour of the hops was very harsh and almost mouth puckering! To me there was no smoothness and I have to say that the mouthfeel was verging on the unpleasant. Maybe this was due to how it was drunk - out a bottle on a train leaving Paddington - but this is not one to repeat.

Bottle from M and S. Appearance - golden amber with a decent head. Nose - grapefruit and fresh sweat. Plant stalks. Taste - lemon and green stalks again. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - somewhere between an APA and a golden ale.

Bottle at home, 24th October 15. Pours clear, aroma, citrus some sweetness. Taste is bitter citrus, great malt backbone, not dissimilar to Oakham Citra. Very nice

bottle from M&S Exeter. Golden colour, tall white head. Malty start, lots of intensively fruity hops tune in at once. Lychee and mango (?), bitter-sweet overall character.

Bottle from M&S, St Johns Road, Clapham Junction, London - golden coloured pour with thin white head. Tropical fruity hoppy and malty aroma and taste, grapefruit, peachy, pine needles into the bitter finish.

50 cl bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow. Aroma is pine and toasted malty. Light grapefruity. Bitter, grapefruity and slight citrusy. Smooth fruity and crisp hoppy solid fruity finish.
