Rhythm & Blues is based on a English style barley wine. Giving it a strong maltsweet character with lots ripe yellow fruits and vanilla from barrel aging. Flavour indication: ripe yellow fruit, malts.

Aroma of malts, fruits, apricots, vanilla, oak, bourbon. Flavour is sweet malts, a bit boozy. A bit too sweet and cloying for my taste. Still, a nice Barleywine, I especially enjoyed the oak flavours.

Bottled. Deep brown colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is plum, raisin, mild alcohol with some toffee and a bit wine gums and come wooden tones. Flavour is wooden, some toffee, honey, plum, raisins and a bit dates with some mild alcohol to it as well. As the alcohol warms up a bit, it gets more boozy

Bottle at Gainsbar. Smells like rare cheese cheesecake and dried fruit. Taste is great. Subtle bourbon, very fruity, creamy sweetness. Lovely,

Bottle. Reddish amber color. Hints of oak and dried fruit in the aroma. Malty sweet alcoholic flavor. Oak. Some dried fruit. Medium bodied. A considerable dry out effect. Good, but not the best De Molen can offer.

Buddel (vintage 2012) Clear, amber coloured, small white head, mushroomy nose with traces of dried fruits and vanilla, caramel as well; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour with a slight acidity, full bodied but not soft; lingering bitter and musty and caramelly finish. Not MY favourite...

Beer #4 of my #7000 Celebration (7 on either side of the milestone beer). Super deep and hazy amber, deep brown and muddied bronze coloured body with a large, three to four centimetre tall off-white head that fades nicely to just a single centimetre. Aroma of bourbon, pure caramel, toffee, caster sugar, light grain, a touch of earthy malts, some peat and ending with a relatively large yeast and alcohol pungency that is noticeable for a while. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malty flavours at first that dominate with the bourbon, full peat, toffee, caramelised sugars, pitted fruit, raisin and fig flavours and a big alcohol, oaky and vanilla notes that show very well and fairly well-rounded while being a touch muted. Aftertaste shows the bourbon nicely with a lot of grain, malt and toffee and more vanilla towards the end with a big dose of alcohol and oak, but very complex while somehow being soft. Overall, a very nice beer that has aged quite nicely, and perhaps would do even better with another five years or so - this isn't too thin yet and the flavours are still noticeable, but could use some softening around the edges. Good to try, and if you purchase, age it a touch and round out the characteristics! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Charleston Beer Exchange in Charleston, South Carolina on 19-April-2015 for US$8,99 sampled at home in Washington on 25-August-2018 almost 3 and a half years after purchase and almost six years after bottling on 15-November-2012, just less than a month after my first kid was born - now she's almost six. Bottled: 15-Nov-2012 // Purchased: 19-April-2015 // Sampled: 25-August-2018

Bottled Aug. 27th, 2014. Soo much wood, supervinous almost like drinking sherry. Malty sweet, not too sticky, dried fruits, thick, boozy.
