A thirst quenching session beer, Sour Suzy mimics a classic German brewing technique (sour mashing) to impart a light, refreshing tartness. No hop bitterness and very low hop profile, Sour Suzy is not your typical session beer - rather it delivers something a bit more obscure and intriguing. It drinks as refreshingly as a glass of lemonade. The grain bill includes a healthy portion of wheat, while citrusy hops lend bright notes to the aroma, which is accentuated by the addition of Makrut lime leaves.

330ml can. Very pale hazy yellow colour with a small white head, dissipating quite quickly. Aroma: sour citrus, lemon, lime, malt. Taste: sour lemon and lime, tart, slight wheaty malt, dry sour finish. Light body and soft carbonation. Drank just a week before its BB date... fresher can might be better.

Can courtesy of Geraint and Helen (thanks you two) consumed at Cabbage Moors, campsite, Gt Shefford, nr Cambridge 05.05.17 whilst cooking our Lamb Siniya. Sparkling gold in colour with a busy carbonation. Good sourness from the off, citrussy with lime zestiness offering up a good tart edge. Good, like this. A6 A5 T7 P4 Ov13 3.5

33cl can from Beer52.com. A straw coloured pour, very fizzy to start with a white head, but settling back to no head and little carbonation; somewhat musty grain aroma with a touch of lime; clean grainy body with a touch of sourness, but nothing near what I was expecting; then a sweet citrusy finish with traces of honey as well as grapefruit, leaving a dry finish. Rather mixed up.

Leichtes Gushing aus der Dose. Optisch leicht trübe Fanta. Olfaktorisch Federweißer. Im Trunk leider sehr matt, keine Kohlensäure. Dafür sonst recht sauer, hintenweg aber wässrig fad. Unausgewogen. Da kann ich den Gruß der Cover-Nixe leider nur erwidern.

Can from Bison beers Brighton. Smack of lime sour that grows in the palate but dies during the drinking. Never too sure about Berliner weisse, a mix of fruit sours and gose. Decent but wouldn’t buy again.

From 33cl bottle. Pours very pale yellow with moderate foam. Aroma is citrusy, lime mainly. Body is medium. Quite some astringency. Taste is sour, with just a hint of saltines and sweetness. Finish is short and clean as it should.

Medium white head quickly disappears entirely. Clear very pale yellow body with light carbonation. Mealy peach aroma with salty herbal candy notes. Lightly acidic mealy peachy taste with herbal notes. Mid-to-thin body. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Acidic salty herbal peachy aftertaste with candy notes. Not much flavour. Kind of mildly pleasant, but not something I’ll buy again. (0.33l can from Meny Gol.)
