Witkap-Pater Stimulo (export name: Abbey Single Ale) is a refreshing gold-colored beer of high fermentation and with re-fermentation on the bottle - thus a living beer with evolving taste. Poured with care you get a rich, white and stable foam collar with a creamy structure and sticking to the glass. You can smell the aromatic hop flowers of Erembodegem, a local natural product. You can also smell a strong ferment typically for the Witkap-Pater. Their are no other taste-makers used. During degustation you get a taste sensation starting with a soft mouth filling taste, passing in the a refreshing taste and ending with a tasty hop-bitter after taste.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours moderately cloudy golden amber color with a 1 finger dense white head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, grape, honey, candi sugar, bread, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, clove, band aid, musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Ok aromas with solid balance and complexity; a bit too medicinal. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, bread, honey, candi sugar, herbal, floral, grass, light clove/pepper, musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Slight earthy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, grape, bread, honey, candi sugar, herbal, grass, floral, light clove/pepper, must, and yeast earthiness. Nice balance and complexity of malt and fruity yeast ester flavors; with a good robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a good Belgian pale ale. Good balance, robustness, and complexity of malt and fruity yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.

Keg at Six Degree North. It pours cloudy golden with a small white head. The nose is dough, banana, candy, hay, cereal and light pear drops. The taste is doughy, hay, green banana, citrus peel, peach, floral and toasty sugars with a clean finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A well rounded and rather drinkable Belgian ale.

Keg at The Hanging Bat. Clear pale yellow, decent white head & lacing. Bready malt aromas, with a bit of good ole Belgian yeastiness to keep it interesting - spice notes and something earthy. Taste was sweet, light bitter and light sour. Clean finish. Dangerously easy-drinking.

Gulbrun tåkete med høyt offwhite skum. Lukter belgisk gjær, mentol og sitrus. Middels fylde. Søt fruktig smak, noe mentol også i smak, noe gjær og honning. Kort

Bottle from Beautiful Beers, Bury St Edmunds. Very fizzy on pouring, creating a very large white head. Hazy golden yellow colour. Strong yeast aroma, fruity and with citrus hops. Rather sweet, with a slight bitterness too. Texture is sticky and oily. Enjoyable nevertheless.

330ml bottle - Under the name ’Witkap-Pater Stimulo’ - cloudy yellow with a crazy frothy white head, almost Mr Whippy ice-cream style. A yeasty nose, bit of clove, bubblegum, banana. A light body, gently carbonated, a bit of bitterness along the way, various spices and notes of the aroma coming through on the aftertaste. Very good.

Bottle @ Lady Grey’s, Newcastle [010313]
Light blond, clear, thin white head
Aroma of soft yeast, hint of clove, dull aroma, touch of wheat
Taste as aroma, bland, quite watery
Palate- over carbonated, thin body, rather watery. Finish as main flavour, boring, dry
Overall - Wasn’t impressed with this at all
