Bottle at home. Aroma is roasted malt, liquorice, dark chocolate, mild peat, oak, mild coffee, tobacco, some booze. Flavour is medium sweet with some bitterness in the finish. Body is above medium. Just a notch above the Glentauchers for me, not too peaty with a good roasty chocolate liquorice tobacco aroma. Looking forward to trying the Maccallan.

Bottle @ NBFD. Black. Malt, roast and licorice in the aroma. Malty sweet, even honeyish flavor with soft whisky notes. Licorice finish.

Shared at a tasting, thanks Benzai, smallish head, opaque black color, aroma of wood vanila and spice, ashy wood chocolare flavor, malty sourness. Nice but not great.

Bottle at Arendsnest, tasted side by side with the Glentauchers version. Looks exactly the same as the latter, with a thin, pale beige, quickly dissolving head and black colour with very thin brownish edges. Aroma has even more whisky than the Glentauchers, including some wet peat (but none of the sharp chemical iodine you’ll find in some other peated whisky-aged stouts), next to dark chocolate sauce, elderberries, dried banana, coffee grounds, dry liquorish, walnuts, beef stock. Flavor starts the same as the Glentauchers version, dried fig and raisin sweetishness with sourish roast barley and beef stock-like umami for balance, even a touch of dried bladderwort; soft carbo, thick, oily and viscous mouthfeel, same as the Glentauchers. Very deep, thick nutty maltiness, toasted and eventually roasted coffee-like bitter, before the whisky flavour sets in, establishing a warm alcoholic effect but somehow remaining less astringent than in the Glentauchers version - hence my slight preference for this one. Some retronasal peat and drying wood tannins at the back brings things to balance and closure. Beautiful Dutch craft stout!

Medium got good dark beige head over virtually black beer. Rich, sweet-roasted, whisky-laden nose. Raisins, fusels, bit of sulphur, other dark dried fruit. Not much peat to sniff, however. Dry, very roasted flavour, and here the peat/tarr is absolutely present. Even vinous, again raisins, as well as a strange flavour very like goats cheese. Very rich MF, lots of alcoholheat, slick-viscous; long-lasting warm fusels & flavour. Very good.
