The Enfant Terriple is put for 6 months on cherries: 250 g sour, un-pitted cherries per litre beer. During this time, the bacteria are given time to digest all sugars even further and to let the soft natural souring have its way. Meanwhile, the cherries slowly donate their blood-red colour and their succulent taste. Part of this cherry also is transferred to the oak wine barrels where it – in a grow-bed of lactobacillus – during a year adds further to a woody souring and softening. The result is a triple-kriek ‘pur sang’. With this, a new saint is added to the Cuvée family of Brewery De Leite. The Cuvée Soeur’Ise, is a wink to cherry in French (= ‘cerise’). The divine saint has already seduced many, all over the world!

Bottle. Unclear red with a 1cm pink head that fades in both colour and extent. Aroma of cherries, earth, cherry stones/ almonds, oak, bracken. Part of the earthy not I don't much like. Medium bodied, diluted kefir texture - very alive. In that Belgian way, it's an 8.5% refresher. Vinous with some cherries, vanilla, plenty of oak. Sour but softly so. Some surprising spice notes at the end - mace? Interesting and good.

At Modeste, shared by Helena of Billie's Bierkafetaria, cheers! Loosely knit, 'dirty' off-pinkish head over a completely cloudy, if not milky deep fuchsia red robe with purplish hue. Aroma of sour cherries and cherry skins, unsugared cherry yoghurt, raw rhubarb, sour milk, wet oak, red wine vinegar, sour unripe blue plums, redcurrant, sourdough, hint of red candy. Tart onset with a cherry sweetish core, sour raw rhubarb and redcurrant, vague banana hint, overruled by lactic yoghurty tartness over a fluffy, doughy, bready malt body. Crisp, tart and still very fruity finish, lovely cherry skin and wood tannins, yoghurty sourness softly lingering. Quite complex, very fruity, very crisp and refreshingly tart with well-hidden alcohol: this is an interesting and tasteful modern sour 'kriek' in all respects. Would love to revisit this.

Bottle from Final Gravity in Roseville, CA. Pours bright cherry against a strong light. Head might be a bit pinkish. Moderate cherry/sour aroma. Med body. Seems a bit of a cross between a sour red/brown and a kriek. Sour is moderate. A good deal of cherry. Quite entertaining.

8 3 7 4 16 Draft at Murphy’s Law, The Hague. It’s a very manly hazy pinkish red with a big pink head. Real funky upfront, barnyard bretty with some dry cellar funk alongside and of course some tart, and slightly sweet cherries. Taste is light to moderate sweet and light moderate sour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
