Our Grapefruit Sculpin is the latest take on our signature IPA. Some may say there are few ways to improve Sculpin’s unique flavor, but the tart freshness of grapefruit perfectly complements our IPA’s citrusy hop character. Grapefruit’s a winter fruit, but this easy-drinking ale tastes like summer.

Bottle at home in Salisbury. Pours perfectly clear, honey-gold with a frothy, pale khaki head. Vibrant, fresh and juicy grapefruit in the aroma with undertones of pale malts. Medium sweet flavor with juicy grapefruit, light piney hops, some grassy bitterness, a bit of grapefruit pith, orange rind, pale bread. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly resinous on the finish with loads more juicy grapefruit and a really true, raw grapefruit bitterness. There’s also hints of pine and lemon zest, with background pale malt sweetness. The grapefruit character is the story here. This is really quite close to drinking grapefruit juice.

Growler filled at Special Brews. Pours a fizzy copper color with a moderate foam head. Sweet, fruity, almost candy sweet like aroma. More like a candy watermelon aroma than grapefruit, and very nice at that. Initially sweet, and easy drinking. Delicious. Nice grapefruit flavor medium body but not overpowering. Just enough to know what you are enjoying. A lot of grapefruit flavor without the bitterness that will typically follow. Really pleasant, fun beer to try. I can drink this regularly. Great stuff. Update: As much as I cycle through different beers, this one I always come back to. One of the best IPA’s out there, in my opinion. Love this beer. UPDATE: Again. Probably another 50 cans later. I feel like there is a lot that goes into a beer rating. A lot can be said about a beer that you like to have in your fridge at all times. As big as I am with variety, and trying new beers, I always come back to this, and it is the beer I buy the most often. 2nd place hardly even finished the race, it’s not even close. If I had to chose one IPA, it would be hard for me to find a better one to keep. As long as they keep making this beer, I’ll keep my fridge stocked. For that, I say thank you.

Keg at the Little Italy tasting room, 12/11/14. Clear golden with a decent off white covering. Nose is big on citric sherbets, bitter grapefruit, pine, juicy citric peel, clean and fresh aromas. Taste comprises grapefruit, orange pith, floral tones, citric rinds. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, hop bitterness well represented in the close. Solid IPA.

Bottle - yes! Pours crystal clear orange, large puffy off-white head, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is obvious grapefruit, citrus, some pine, dankness. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter; tons of grapefruit, a bit of spruce. A touch harsh on the finish. Medium body. Regular Sculpin is better. The addition of grapefruit actually takes away some of the nuances of the hop profile.

12oz bottle pours out a straw color topped with a sand head. Nose is crazy fresh grapefruit blossoms and sweet citrus. Wow the nose is amazing. Taste is as the nose with lots of the grapefruit juice and some nice mellow bitterness on the end.

Bottle from Bine & Vine. Pours brassy gold with a white head. Aroma is very grapefruit rind. Maybe there’s detectable malt. Maybe. Wow. This is grapefruit, rind, juice and all. There is supporting caramel. Mild hop burn. Finishes grapefruit and decently bitter. Excellent.
