Inspired by Latvian folk songs on juniper beer, this one will resemble a refreshing walk in our corniferous seaside forests. Brewed with juniper berries and a variety of hops derived from regional wild hops - Kazbek. Fruity and resinous, with a lightly kilned malt backbone and a blasphemously inviting finish.

--Keg at Stigbergets Fot, Stockholm. -- Clear copper colour. Fruity nose with red berries. Sweetish with medium body and clean, rounded, somewhat oily mouthfeel. Doughy rye bread and notes of spicy berries. Low bitterness.

Tap @ Alus Darbnīca Labietis, Riga. Unclear orange golden body under a white head. Aroma has citric fruit, juniper, hint of honey and spices. Taste is unusually like aroma, pale malt, citric fruit, honey, juniper, herbal, grassy and low bitterness. Medium body and same aftertaste. Interesting with the spices and wild hops, but I can't quite get the hang of it.

17 August 2019. At Gents Bierfestival X. Cheers to Anke, Kevin & the crew! Hazy amber, lasting, thick, frothy, tan head. Aroma of caramel, brioche, green tea, banana, plum, apple, dried orange. Taste is light to medium fruity sweet, offering dried orange, plum, apricot & some banana, caramelly & brioche-like maltiness, slightly herbal & nutty bitter. Dry, herbal hoppy finish, lingering dried & candied fruit & brioche. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Fine 'Flavored' beer (Amber Ale-ish, perhaps?), missed out on the juniper I suppose though.

Lithuanian barleywine sampled at Gents Bierfestival, thanks Steve for sharing. Mousy, off-white, opening head, deep peachy-orange golden robe. Aroma of honey liqueur, caramel, candied peach, marmalade, canned pineapple, calvados, sweetbread. Sweet onset, peach, ripe pineapple, melon, softly carbonated, full and oily mouthfeel, sweetbready maltiness with lingering honey-like residual sugars, light floral hop bitterish note, strong warming, brandy-like alcohol in the finish but for a beer this strength, kept very well in place; don't get much juniper, though. A fine barleywine from an perhaps somewhat unexpected source (even though Labietis has been active and well-versed in the craft beer field for years now), would happily revisit.
