Wood Burner imperial smoked stout aged in bourbon barrels. Over the years we have brewed a plethora of bit stouts and porters, and the idea of brewing an imperial smoked stout was something we had been kicking around for a while. When an open brew day presented itself, we knew exactly what to do. The base stout focuses on rich caramel and chocolate notes with a deep savory/smoky backbone. The entire batch found its way into bourbon barrels, where it rested for over a year. An enticing combination of sweet and savory, with waves of dark chocolate and vanilla that wash over the palate. [5/2/15] Draught sample at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2015. 3rd session. Black with a brown head. Wonderful aroma of lots of chocolate, bourbon, vanilla. Sweet flavor with chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, roast, mild booziness and a bitterish finish. Full-bodied.

Draught @ CBC 2015. Pours black with a small brown head, lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, dark chocolate, wood, coffee, bourbon, light smoke. Flavor is light sweet, malty, caramel, coffee, smoke, wood, sweet chocolate, light smokey, chocolate cake. Medium to full body, average carbonation, warming alcohol in the finish. Smooth. 020515

Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, smoke, coffee, caramel, cocoa, oak and vanilla. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long warm, roasted, chocolate, coffee, cocoa, vanilla, and oak finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

From tap. Pours hazy dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is bourbon vanilla and toasted malty. Roasted malty, chocolate and bourbon. Lingering dark malty and roasted finish.

Tap @CBC15. Clear, very dark brown. Small beige film. Aroma has wood, raisins and booze. Flavour is sweetish with dry oak and sweet raisins. Dry and semi sticky.

Sample at CBC 2015. Almost black with a small tan head. Very nice aroma and taste of chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, wood and roasted malt. Nice thick body and with a long lasting aftertaste. Really tasty.

Pours an inky black with a thin khaki head. The aroma is boozy and a little smoky with hints at vanilla beans. Taste is sweet and roasty with some barrel notes. Thick mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation.
