Bottle share at Ken’s 20k tasting. Many thanks to Madmitch "Ahab" 76 for providing this whale of a beer. Pours a dark brown with very minimal head and little carbonation. Aroma of leather, tobacco, fruit cake and a little booze. Warming feel and all sorts of tastes going on with the fruit cake, leather, tobacco and a little fudge plus many others. Really glad to have the opportunity to try this complex beer. Cheers Ken. Here’s to sharing 25k!

Bottle split at Madmitch76 20K tasting, massive thanks to the ever generous Ken for supplying this juan, 15/01/16. Light black with a moderately appointed tan covering that dissipates to edgeing. Nose carries a big dollop of malt, light smoke, chocolate, bourbon infuse, burnt treacle toffee, raisens, stewed dark fruit rinds. Taste drops away a touch from the nose, dark fruit compote, light smoke, dates, fruit cake, tinged with oxidisation, black forest gateaux, molasses, tobacco, vinous. Full bodied, slick feel, warming alcohol in the close. Great to try and not bad at all age considered, has held up well, oxidisation is light. ABV is well masked, though will have dropped away, barrelling subtle ...see ABV. Great to tre this beast and glad to have done so now and not in a few years time !

The 20K beer for 20K Kenny thanks to the main man himself. Congratulations! Exceptionally generous of him! It pours darkest brown with no head whatsoever. The nose is rich malts, meaty, umami, oily, chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits, chewy, unctuous, fudge, alcohol, fruit cake and toasted coconut. The taste is rich, oily, chewy malt, warming heat, meaty, Marmite, toasted stuff, raw alcohol, slick, umami, plum, raisin, fig, some oxidisation and some spicy Worcestershire sauce on the back-end. Finish is warming and spiced. Full body and oily, slick mouth-feel. Warms yer cockles that’s for sure. Rich, oily and warming. Not quite the best beer ever, but great fun to try. Thanks!

Bottle at the brewery. Pours a deep dark mahogany with no head. Aroma is decadent as hell, with dark dried fruits, toffee, molasses and alcohol. Flavour is super hot, with smoke, leather, followed by treacle toffee. The alcohol is still super hot after all these years, though as it warms, it's actually less abrasive. It's basically Adam on steroids. Fantastic and what a treat of a unique experience.

Bottle - Vintage 1994 - Dark caramels, sark sugar, touch of toffee. Deep dark brown with no head. Sweet, charred wood, char, fish sauce and a long finish. No heat in the taste. Very nice considering the age.

Bottle. Well we’ve reached peak insanity. Pours a dark black brown color with no head. The aroma is big sweet malts, sugary, hot, oak. The flavor is big sweet Adam, heat, tobacco, molasses, roast, chocolate, so much oxidation and heat. Thin palate of course. An experience. Hard to say really how good this is/was. My main thought was that it tasted a lot like an old Adam. That makes sense! No doubt it is good, also no doubt it is a bit of a eccentric appetite’s satisfaction. I’d love to see Alan make a ice Adam again, I see no reason why not. The few bottles of this left won’t make that much. No doubt as well that this is pretty good.

First of all, huge thanks for fredandboboflo and lilbeerdoctor for sharing this - I never thought I’d ever get to try this - shared with a table of ratebeerians at John Harvards - pours a thick, viscous ruby liquid - aroma of spiced rum, chocolate, brown sugar, port wine, bourbon-soaked cherries - zero carbonation - thick, slick mouthfeel - warming flavor, but not at all boozy - a lot of cherry, brown sugar, spices - oaky, vinous, a lot of port flavors - probably the most balanced beer of such strength I’ve ever had - this is the best beer I’ve ever had at John Harvards!
