On keg at the Siren Brewery birthday bash, March 2015. Pours opaque black with a tan head. Aroma: decadent, roasted malts, black cherry, caramel. Taste: heavy sweet & light to moderate bitter, burnt sugar, caramel, toffee, raisins, dried fruits, subtle black cherry. Full body, ample carbonation, sweet warming finish. Velvet smooth. Amazing

Sampled from tap at ’Beertemple’. Pitch black with a tan head. Sweetish, slightly sourish, fruity and a little boozy aroma of molasses, ripe cherries, red wine, some vanilla and oak. Sweet, slightly sourish, a little fruity taste of molasses, dark chocolate, some coffee, ripe cherries, red wine and some oak, followed by a medium long, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly tart and a little vinous finish. Full body, creamy mouthfeel, flat. Very good, I like it a lot! The subtle, sourish cherry notes match perfectly with the chocolaty sweetness.

Draft at beertemple. Black pour. Lovely aroma of bourbon vanilla, red fruit and chocolate. Thick sweet taste of bourbon vanilla, sweet cherry, mild fruity sourness and sweet chocolate. Some malt as well. Much better than the base beer.

27.02.2015, tap @ Inside Cafe:
Big brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is mild and sweet, dark sugar, bourbon, dark malts, grass, alcohol, vanilla, oak, chocolate, minerals, hints of sour cherries. Taste is sweet and slightly boozy, dark sugar, oak, alcohol, grass, minerals, bourbon, dark malts, cherry stones, vanilla, paper, sour coffee, hints of sour cherries.Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly dry and boozy mouthfeel. Nice, but not fantastic. And as the beer of origin, it’s way too sweet...

(Keg at Pikkulintu, 20150512) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had vanilla, cocoa, wood and burnt malts. Palate was full bodied and dry with rather low carbonation. Flavours were vanilla, tartness, berries, dark chocolate, sweetness, booze and bitterness. Aftertaste had sweetness, berries and burntness. A very sweet brew with berries. Not my thing.

On tap at Tallinn Craft Beer Weekend. Dark brown, close to used motor oil black, with a beige head. Malty and fruity aroma with notes of cherry, caramel, vanilla and hints of spices. Very sweet, but it balances out somehow. Sweet with fruity and malty flavours, a light acidity and some bitterness in the finish. Still a bit too much on the sweet side, but pretty drinkable. --- Beer merged from original tick of 1349 Black Ale - Bourbon Barrel & Sour Cherry Edition on 27 Mar 2015 at 23:11 - Score: 6
