Intensiver Kaffeegeruch. Süßliche Kaffeenoten, deutlich weniger intensiv als nach den Geruch erwartet. Süßlich bleibend, etwas hefig. Sehr eigen, gut. 11/11/11/10//11

Bottle shared at the Canary wharf tasting 16/02/2016. Many thanks to Leighton for this. Opaque black, mahogany brown coloured pour with a lasting halo of mid tan head. Aroma is big earthy coffee, dirt, dark choc. Flavour is composed of earthy coffee, semi sweet, hint of vanilla, wood. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation. Light jammy plum fruits. Ok. Flavour is slightly muted compared to the lovely aroma.

Level 42 Tasting. Thanks to Leighton. Can. Almost clear dark amber - brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is softish, semi dry and has decent fine carbonation. Sweetish dark malts, some lactose sweetness. Touches of milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Mild tangy fruits. Touch of spice. Very smooth and well joined up. Not a big fan of this style but this one is decent.

Can thanks to Leighton. It pours darkest brown with a decent tan head. The nose is rich, chocolate cake, bounty bar, coffee cake, burnt toast and espresso. The taste is rich roast, big coffee vibe, earthy roast, some creaminess, coffee cake, earth, wood and fruit cake with a dry, sort of sweet finish. Medium body and average, foamy carbonation. Aroma stands out. Decent overall.

Can shared in London - many thanks to Dr. Sandman for this treat. Pours black-brown with a creamy beige head. The nose has rich espresso, cocoa, roast. Medium sweet flavor with some sticky sweet chocolate, mellow earthy bitterness, scorched wood, milky coffee, baking cocoa. Medium bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Finishes with bittersweet cocoa, more robust espresso, earth. Great depth, and really drinkable.

750mL growler filled and drunk 1/30/16.
Mocha-ebony body shows light clarity on the edges and a slow to form tan head eventually sits atop with moderate retention.
At first it’s very heavy on the roast and seems to have a bit more beany character than I’d prefer. This does eventually fade but I’m still left with rich, heavy caramel macchiato-like characteristics. Dry vanilla and lightly burnt espresso notes help add balance and there is no alcohol or flaw.
A very "gritty" and bready texture is the first thing I notice with heavy, loose carbonation and a watery finish despite some light syrupy character from the coffee and malt. Definitely sweet and decadent with vanilla, tons of espresso and milky caramel character. Gets better as it breathes and warms, but I’m not finding anything incredibly compelling here.
