Nitro Keg Ale and Canned Widget Ale. An export strength beer brewed specifically for countries outside the UK. It has the same smooth and creamy characteristics as Tetley’s Smoothflow and incorporates a full drinking flavour. It is well balanced with a complex range of malty and hoppy notes, enhanced by a fruity aroma. Like Tetley’s Smoothflow, it is served at 8°C to give extra refreshment.

The nitro widget makes the beer look great. I’m a sucker for that bizarre head. On the down side, it seems to pull some fullness out of the feel as the nitrogen subsides. The nose is all caramel, maybe with a touch of earthy hops. The flavors are buttery caramel, biscuit, some slight bitter tartness and some subtle hops. This beer isn’t bad, but I can imagine how much better a traditional English ale could be and that’s a rough comparison. Good beer for the style, but there’s not a huge amount of high quality competition with wide distribution.

On tap. Poured a slightly hazy amber gold with a thick white head that lasts throughout. Aroma was a bit weak with hay malt notes and not much else. Flavor was weak as well with malt notes through out.

Typical English Ale, very creamy with the widget, malty with light hops. Very smooth, I can drink this all day and the ABV is listed at 3.8% which is much lighter than other beers I consume. I really enjoy drinking this, very refreshing.

Widget can. Basic beer smell when opened. Pouring gives a nice Guinness surge, leaving a thick creamy head over a reddish-gold body. The "pub pour" give the beer a nice silky texture and appearance, but the taste in not quite equal to the presentation. Then again, this is an "ordinary" bitter. Midway down, with my nose in the glass, I get some English hops. Not as terrible as some have claimed, but this is the typical "warm, flat beer" our boys in England joked about during W-W-2.

Smooth/easy drinking. Light aroma and flavors consisting of caramel malts, herbal hops, and bread. Not exciting or all that tasteful, but I could probably drink a few more.

Pint - nitro draft at Darcy’s in Greenwood Village, CO. Pour is clear copper with a small white head, a little bit of settling. Aroma is very faint, mostly musty. Taste is blah, not much there at all - a little bit of malt a little bit of hop.

Pour out of the can is a nice looking amber with a lasting head. Aroma is nothing. Flavor is a very small amount of hops but lots of mustyness helps this one out. Nothing great or worthy of lots of time. I hate wideget cans. 3.8% abv? Come on im a big boy...
