Draught (Modré Abbé, Klattau): Almost black with a firm, lacy beige head; dark malt, roasted malt and also hops in the nose; solid bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied; lingering hoppy and roastmalty, mainly dry, finish. A very good, spicy Dunkel from Böhmisch-Eisenstein..............

Blind tasting. Opaque black, good creamy beige head. Slightly coffeish nose. Coffeish, sweetish, caramelly. Drinkable, just a bit too sweet.

From tap at Modrý Abbé, blindtasting beer #9. Pours dark and unclear brown with a dense, creamy and light tan head. Dry roasted malt aroma and mild coffee note. Flavour is light liqourice and roasted malt. Nice balance and mix with a light bitterness into the finish.6-4-7-4-14=3.5
RBESG2008: 1.5 L bottle. Pours hazy brown with a slowly diminishing tan head. Aroma is mild butterish and roasted. Flavour holds a nice roasted malt flavour and a light butterish note towards the finish. Ends with a light acidic roasted note.7-3-7-3-13=3.3

Draught at blind tasting at Modry Abbe. Black beer with thick dark beige head. Looks like a tmave. Some charcoal, some milky coffee. Fine, bit of toffee. OK, but not my favourite.

Draught at RBESG blind tasting at Modrý Abbé. Muddy dark brown, beige head. Carefull caramelly nose with a light dose of coffee. Roasty and quite hoppy with a touch of chocolate and floral, resiny notes. Feels light bodied and clean in the mouth. The finish goes towards tar.

On tap at Hotel Belveder in Železna Ruda, Czech Rep.
Dark brown (almost black) coloured, medium sized beige head, sourish roasty nose. The taste is also roasty with notes of milk chocolate, cocoa and nutts in the finish. Smooth and easy drinkable beer, the best from Ruda.

On tap at the Hotel Belveder and afterwards at the blind tasting at Modry Abbe (Klatovy)... only one rating before mine but there should be quite a lot of them soon. Poured a dark dark brown colour with a medium sized off white head that went away at a medium pace. Dark malts and caramel in the notes, a bit dusty/roasty, some hop too. Some chocolate noted as well later on. The taste was quite nice obviously. Nutty (, with some lovely roasty coffee notes and some cocoa. Thought that it was a schwarzbier, a classy one too. A bit simple, one of my rates calls it a one trick pony (not convinced), but it’s a very good, drinkable beer.
