I’ve expected that it will be good as Vukovarsko Svijetlo, but something went wrong here. Maybe it was spoiled or something. :-/

Bottled 500ml. -First batch from Kuća Piva, rate from August 2011. Muddy brown coloured, medium sized off-white head, vinous light coffee nose with hint of dust (not too pleasant of course). Slight roasted malt, vinous coffee/chicory and metallic taste and rather watery. Also some acidity in the finish. Totally unbalanced and without any patriotism bad beer...
Bottled 500ml. -Second batch from Tolkien’s House, rate from January 2012. Dark brown coloured, medium sized pale beige head, slight vinous caramel nose. Vinous and acidic malty caramel taste with dusty peppery notes. Again something went wrong here...

28/08 0.5 l bottle courtesy of Marko, thanks! It poured hazy reddish brown body with medium sized to bigger brownish head. Slightly sour, stale and vinous aroma, had some toast and caramel base though. Sourish metallic flavor, with fine background malt (coffee, sweetish caramel, yeasty) that is unfortunately not too prominent. Except those ugly notes in the finish, fine coffee did manage to emerge. Unfortunately, in this condition is total failure, they shouldn’t have released this batch, no matter it’s first, but this one got some potential to be nice. Also, brewery got the obvious potential for making first Croatian sour ale!
Rerate:
Second batch, tasted 23/Nov/2011 with Marko. Body was the same hazy copper brown with smaller head. Slightly sourish caramel and coffee aroma, not stale this time as the first batch that was whole infected! Nice caramel, toffee and chocolate malt flavor, slightly woody as well. Thinner in body with nice, long and slightly sweetish caramel finish. A bit light, but a nice beer for sure I would welcome any time, at least in this shape!

2nd batch (not infected heh):Bottle from Kuća Piva. Yay! Dark brown-amber body, off white head. Toast and caramel in the nose, same as before, weak typical Vukovarsko soap. Nice creamy toasty soft malty taste, weak soapy notes, but other than that clean and, almost delicious, even if the taste’s a bit subdued. Not much hop. Heavy raved about this more than I can, it’s cleaner than their pale, which is good, but both beers share the same mistakes. All in all, a welcome addtion to the market! 1st batch (infected):Bottle from Kuca Piva. Misty dark brown tinged with amber. Small off rocky head. Strong toast in the nose, bit caramel. Nice toasty taste, roastier than most other Croatian dunkels, but spoiled, obvious acidity. Light carrot. Smooth still. Has potential, looking forward to trying it without the infection. 6/2/5/3/11 (2.7)
