A helmet and headset can’t muffle the sound of your heart pounding in your chest. Your gloved-hands infuse themselves to the wheel and won’t let go until it’s over. Your co-driver makes one final adjustment to the course and looks at you with a grin and a thumbs-up. “We are good to go.” he says. Adrenaline floods every muscle but your foot remains steady on the accelerator. The engine is roaring but soon it will sound like a swarm of ten thousand bees.

Go! Go! Go! Every turn of the wheel and every shift of the gear in sync with the flurry of your co-driver’s instructions. Nothing but a blur of green on either side. You can feel loose asphalt under the tyres being strewn in every direction as they maneuver every corner with the screech of a ‘banshee’. Nothing but dust and white smoke behind you and a certainty of victory in front of you because yours is the best time for this and every stage. At the finish line, you step slowly out your car, helmet in hand, wanting a Stag to celebrate and to quiet your mind. It’s the only beverage for a man who is both a hero and a formidable racing adversary.

Stag is a European style lager with a distinct, robust flavour and a lingering but gentle aftertaste. Both its taste and its name are indicative of what true masculinity is – unforgettable strength and character. It appeals to the male consumer who embodies these characteristics and who appreciates a beer that reminds him and everyone around him of exactly who he is.

275ml bottle from Olumo Continential Foods, Darlington. Pale yellow gold colour, thin white foam head and aroma of corn grains, drains, cardboard. Taste is grainy, corn, papery, cardboard with some metallic bitterness. Light bodied, high carbonation, dry bland finish. Not the best.

Many thanks for this rare Trinidad beer to Jacek & Marek. green 275ml bottle.

Bottle ordered online from ASDA, drunk at home. Lockdown is still pretty much on, but raters gotta rate. Ergo, this. Very light yellow, clear, with a small ring of white head. Smell is floral, skunky, bitter herbs, dried grass. Overall, not bad. Tastes watery, with sweet rice, corn syrup, slight peppery note. Long sweet finish a slight bitterness at the very end with 80s diet soda notes in the aftertaste. It isn't terrible, but it's very cheaply made. I'm unlikely to have this again.

Bottle at Hemingway Café in St. John's, Antigua. Has okay bleach white head and clear medium gold body, aroma is soft sweet lager hops and some grain . Flavour is vague lemon, cardboard and grain. Mouthfeel is crisp and refreshing when cool at least. This is your usual boring tropical lager, but drinkable.

9.67 oz. bottle purchased in St. Kitts. Pours a clear pale gold color with a white head and decent retention. Decent lacing too. Strong skunk aroma. Light grainy Euro lager flavor with a light skunk finish (at least less skunk than the nose). Okay.

Bottle from Asda. Golden in colour, with a moderately-sized, white, head and touch of carbonation. Aroma of sweetcorn and tired hops, with a metallic edge. Flavour was also sweet, with flabby malts, a hin of fruit and solidly bitter finish. There are worse lagers.

This 275 ml green bottle was purchased earlier today at the friendly liquor/cigar/beer store we visited in St. Kitts on a earlier trip. A local beer, we want to try what the locals produce and drink. No suitable glass available I drink from the bottle of course. A slightly skunky smell after I lift the cap. No problem, numerous beers start the same way. A drink now, barley, hops, grassy, vaguely tropical, let’s toss a palm frond in there too. Basically inoffensive, I am the better for having tried.
