33 cl. bottle @ home, gift from Alex and Sussanne. Black with a beige head. Very malty nose with subdued hops. Taste is bitter-sweet. Leaning more to a stout than other Black IPAs, clearly the malts were considered more important than a massive amount of hops. Body is a bit thin. Still a nice hoppy stout.

33cl Bottle from Vonk. Black colour, beige-brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee, ash, some citrus. Flavour is dry, roasted malts, coffee and cream, dark chocolate, tobacco, bitter finish. Light bodied, feels a bit thin at times, slick. Nice Stout, don’t get much hop flavour or aroma.

Borefts VIII. Day 2. Keg at SBH, Leiden. Opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is airy and dry, good minerally carbonation. Mellow dark malts, little dark chocolate. Some light hop skunk and spice. Airy dry finish. Not bad.

Tap at the Stadsbrouwhuis, Leiden. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin off white head. The aroma is grassy hop roasty malt, light yeast citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light crisp smoky floral grassy hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Tap at the brewpub. Almost black with nice creamy beige head. Chocolate, earthy coffee, light citrusy hops, hazelnuts, toffee, some dried plums and apricots. Almost medium sweet and bitter with a mineral dry touch in the finish which doesn’t really suit the beer. Medium bodied with almost creamy mouth coating feel. Nice one!

Tap at Oproer. Opaque black with creme tan head. Big sweet roasted choco malts, coffee, rye softness, caramel syrup, toffee. Vegetal weedy hops. Medium sweet and bitter. Over medium body, soft carbonation. Nice but not a big impacting hop character.
