Alvinne's renowned Cuvée d'Erpigny barley wine, this time aged on sweet Sauternes wine barrels; at Hedonis Ambachtsfest, thanks kraddel for sharing. Lightly lacing, thinnish, off-white head, almost clear amber-hued warm and deep orange blonde colour. Perfumed, strong bouquet of marmelade, orange zest, sweet white dessert wine indeed, biscuit, vanilla-ish oak, fermenting apple, cognac, ginger, mandarin liqueur, wet wood. Sweet onset, marmelade, candied pineapple and fresh orange flavours, soft carbo, oily, bit viscous yet smooth, vinous mouthfeel, rounded caramelly malt body with bready edges, increasingly soaked in an aromatic vanilla-like oak woodiness, softly drying tannins, a 'deep' earthy hop bitter accent and, eventually, a sweet white wine-like but also brandy-ish alcohol effect, yet nowhere wry or obnoxious. Another beautiful barley wine in this series, rich, vinous, elegantly sweet and boozy.

330ml bottle from Vanuxeem. Pours a hazy amber, minimal receding off-white head. Good fruity sauternes influence in the aroma. Quite full-bodied on the palate, smooth with prominent sauternes sweetness coming through the yeast and caramel malt. Some light spice. However, lacks clarity and comes off a little smooth and smudged.

04/02/2017 - draught small glass @ Gainsbar, Kortrijk. Cloudy orange with small white lacing. Nose is rip fruits, bit yeast, sweetness. Taste is lots of ripe fruit (apricot), sweetness, bit boozy, some sourness, dry. Nice beer but I seem to like the Mortagne series more.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Matteo. Pours unclear orange-gold with a frothy topping. The nose has some woody botes, tangerine rind, pale grains. Light sweet flavour with some citric tang, melon, alcohol, more woody dryness. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, warming, with oily citrus, melon, wood. Hearty.
