For this year’s Rainbow Project collaboration with Garage Project we drew the colour indigo. After much research on both sides the idea that excited us all most was that of the Blacklight Banana. Ripe bananas uniquely glow bright indigo under UV lights, one possible reason for this being that it identifies them as a food source for animals that see in the UV range, like bats. Molasses, Caramelised Bananas, Banana Purée and Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee Beans elevate this beer to something special. Bottle from beer gonzo. Rich deep amber to black colour with a thin tan head. Aroma has whiskey, banana, and coffee. Taste rich smooth light sweet yo light bitter. Full body.

Bottle. Black pour, creamy head. Aroma of caramel, creamy coffee, roasted malt and banana. Taste is very creamy, but also bitter, with banana, caramel, mild vanilla, chocolate, coffee and molasses. Nice smoot mouthfeel, long banana cream finish. Creative and very tasty.

Keg at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell, London. A black coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Caramel, banana, coffee aroma. Tastes mainly of banana, caramel, coffee, some chocolate. Nice Imperial Stout.

330ml bottle from Kihoskh. Pours dark brown, almost black, witha small head. Aroma has loads of weizenbock notes with lots of ripe banana, hints of roastiness, coffee, dark chocolate and cocoa. Taste is quite weird with some roastiness, loads of banana notes, coffee, chocolate and ripe fruits. Finish is roasty, sweetish and has loads of coffee notes mixed with ripe banana, fruits and yeasty notes. A bit strange.

Level 42 Bottleshare. Clear amber - brown beer, tidy tan head. Palate is quite light, semi dry and has good fine minerally carbonation. Caramel - toffee malts, thin malt cream. Tangy fruits. Banana is loud and clear but it’s a kinda mutant weird banana. Caramel turns bitter. Touch of paper before a light and semi dry finish. Messy.

Tap @ Christian Firtal, Odense. Pours Nearly black with a small head. Aroma is sweet of chocolate and coffee. Flavor is hideous. Metallic and dusty coffee. Waauw.

Bottle from Brewcraft at home. Thanks to Kenneth for the recommendation. Pitch black pour with dense light tan head, a bit sudsy. Aroma is rich roasted malt, coffee, some banana maybe? with metallic tang. Taste is bitter coffee and chocolate with some sourness. Rich slightly chalky palate. Aftertaste of beer similar to aftertaste of banana. Not as weird as I thought, not a bad imperial stout. Wouldn’t get again.

Bottle (from etre gourmet). Poursdark brown-black. Aroma is roast, booze, banana, coffee. Flavor is metallic, sweet, bitter, roast, coffee, malt, banana, dryness. Finish is really dry. Overall: drinkable, but way too metallic.

Bottle shared at Craft Clerkenwell. Dark brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of caramel, vegetal notes, toffee and light banana. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter bitter. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.
