Very dark (almost black) color with a beige head. Nice lacing. Looks good. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium body and a nice mellow carbonation level. Good condition. Ok balanced sweetness versus bitterness. Ok peat level for even me in the flavor. Also some rost and chocolate. Decent smoked beer.

Half pint, cask at the Ale House in Chelmsford. Decent fawn-coloured head leaving rich lacing behind. Jet black body. Smoked aroma with hints of dark berry fruits. The taste profile follows suit with smoked malts up front joined by dark dough and berry fruits. Ashy and drying malty finish. Medium bodied. Pleasant (Shared with Cunningham 19.02.2017).

Cask @ Three Tuns, Sheffield. Black with a thick frothy off-white head. Mostly smoked in its nose, it has a good roasted malt character throughout with ham in its aftertaste

Cask gravity @Beer Rebellion. It pours black with a small tan head. The nose is smooth, unctuous smokiness, roasty, light bacon frazzle and some peppery notes. The taste is smooth, roasted malt earth, toast, smoke, treacle, coffee and mild acidity with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Smells pretty amazing. Smooth, balanced and very drinkable. One of Brighton Bierโ€™s best.
