Keg in Winchester, Hants. A attractive bronze colour with a white head - definitely darker and more classy looking that standard Stella - although the gold-rimmed chalice glass may accentuate the differences; the aroma and taste seem to have the sour grainy edge that I always associate with Belgium - so this is definitely more true to it’s origins than the usual SA; otherwise, it’s a fairly ordinary grainy lager with a touch of coriander in the finish.

Half pint taken on the bank of the river Thames in London: Oct 2011. This is a bit drier and has a darker golden hue than the standard Stella: otherwise not a lot of difference. I’m sure the brewery will claim all sorts of differences in the brewing process and ingrediants, but I bet it’s from the same base brew and tweaked a little to make it have the changes already mentioned. You could say (as a previous reviewer almost stated) it is a German Pilsner meets Belgian Lager for the British market. It was cold and refreshing and not unpleasant, makes a change for me to have a lager when in an English pub.

Keg, 4.9% abv, at The Sir Christopher Hatton (Nicholsons pub), thanks to oh6gdx for sharing. Not black at all, has got a transparent blond coloured body. Filmy head. Sweet fruity aroma. Sweet malt and grass in flavour. Woody dry ending. Very sweet, still possible to quaff (London, 01.08.2011).

Draught@Sir Christopher Hatton, London. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is strawberries, some earth, mildgrassy notes and quite wooden and malty notes as well. Flavour is nicely wooden, malty and slightly grassy. Tastes like a lager aged for quite a while.

Was expecting a dark lager! Ha! It’s a lager - clear gold, good white head. Smooth palate. Actually this is alright. Creamy malt, a tiny whsiper of hop. Mostly this has a sumptuos feel going for it and it slips doen very easily. Found it difficult to dislike!
