Brewdog Shepherd Bush. Keg. Lightly hazy amber beer, small off white head. Softish palate. Sweetish malts and dried fruits, tangy. TCP and spice. Light semi dry finish. Pretty peaty but passable.

Keg at BD Sheps Bush. It pours clear red-brown with a small beige head. The nose is rich, medicinal, rich smoke, oily, jammy berry, plum, blackcurrant, cola cubes and wood. The taste is bitter, wood, earth, pepper, bitter-sweet, medicinal, toasty, spice, liquorice, xmas cake, dried fruits, smoke with a warming, lightly spiced finish. Med-full body and fine, prickly carbonation. Crazy stuff, bit I kind of like it.

Keg at BD Shep’s. Pours clear amber-gold with a creamy white head. The nose holds a bit of smoke, some bread, orange rind. Medium sweet flavor with some oily hops, strong peat, grassy bitterness, citrus rind. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Somewhat chewy. Warming finish with some tropical fruits, a hit of boozy spice, more peat, drying wood. Somewhat unbalanced. OK.

Tap at the Hanging Bat, Edinburgh - 08/12/12. Hazed dark amber with a thin off white head, good lacing ensues. Nose is light soap, TCP, faint whisky. Taste is a massive whisky hit, wood, booze, sugars, rausch, medicinal notes. Full bodied, soft carbonation, smokey boozey finish. Ok stuff but a bit overpowering on the whisky front - needs a little attention to the overall balance to make it a great beer.
