On tap at Christian Firtal. Black with a lasting off-white head. Roasted malt aroma with licorice and a touch of smoke. Sweetish roasted flavour with a full body and that silky oatmeal stout mouthfeel. Very straightforward, very well brewed stout, and I just realised I haven’t had anything like that in ages. Yummy

Huge beige head, bit fluffy, over deep brown, nearly black head. Dark malts, melanoidins, dry hops, roast and - indeed - oats. Also a bit of banana. Generally quite dry aromas. Dry, rather markedly hoppy flavour, with a backthroat sweetness as from coffee-flavoured sweets - Haagse hopjes, koffiebonen, ... Aftertaste is bitter. Medium bodied, quite slick. Good.

Bottle from BeerMerchants; opaque black pour with a thin bubbly tan head, aroma has light smoke and roast malts, taste has plain chocolate backed up with some light smokiness, hint of phenols, decent smoked.

Bottle. Nose is is sweet smoke, perfumy-pama violety-flowers, a slight vinous note which is making me nervous. Taste is roasted malts, smoke, very dry hazelnut and oak notes, dry chocolate, ash, raisin, iron (the celery note picked up by another reviewer is on point). The slight vinegar note of a beer about to turn was there... Moutfeel was over carbonated. This is a beer with good depth, which I think had not been looked after properly from the shop I acquired it from. Will try again.

Bottle from the Stockbridge Tap. Appearance - opaque black with very little head. There didn’t seem much of a C02 release on opening. Nose - very gentle smoke, you have to look for it. Dry chocolate. Taste - dark chocolate and smoke intermingled. Strangely it now seems over carbonated. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet prickly texture and a dry finish. Overall - good beer even if it doesn’t knit together as well as it could’ve.
