Cask @ The Forty Foot, Dun Laoghaire [241015]
Pitch black, thin bubbly tan head
Aroma of dark malts, some coffee roast, sweet dark caramel, but nose rather light
Taste - Soft sweet dark malts background, fairly bitter roast, some coffee grounds, robust flavour, touch of dark chocolate, burnt notes offset by sweet malt base
Palate - Medium body, smooth, nice sweetness in background, quite bitter roast but not too much. Finish as main flavour, a bit dry
Overall - Quite a nice stout, but a bit burnt for my palate

Cask at the Pilgrims Progress, JDW. Dark brown and a sizeable tan head. Roast malt with a bit of black coffee. Sweet malty taste with a bit of sourness. Some liquorice on the finish. Body is thinner than I expected, or would have liked. A stout-by-numbers, but still enjoyable.
