This beer is a red-amber ale, brewed with peat smoked malt traditionally used for peated whiskeys. The peat smoke imparts light smoky flavours that are unlocked and infused into the final product alongside roasted malt notes. Late hop additions of Nugget add a faint pear and peach character which should ignite familiar heartland memories of Ireland.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2016. Copper in colour, with a slight, beige, head. Aroma of sweet toffee and smoked malts. Flavour had more toasted malts, sweet red fruit and a moderately bitter finish. Ok.

Cask at the Bankers Draft, Bedford. Red and clear with a beige head. Light smoky aroma, earthy malt laced with whisky. Fairly sweet and balanced with some bitter hop in the finish. Yeast roll, more whisky and redcurrant in the finish. Bodyโs a bit flat. Pretty nice overall.

Cask @ Turls Green, Bradford. Clear copper-gold with a thin head. Smoked in both aroma and taste, but not overly so as thereโs a clear sweetness evident too, which is most notable in its taste. A little thin tasting in the palate.

Cask half-pint in the Captain Noel Newton, Oakham on 15th March 2016. Looked fine, with a red hue to the dark amber pour, solid and lasting head. Peat Bog aroma and taste, malty and semi-sweet. Did not take to it at all.
