This beer is a red-amber ale, brewed with peat smoked malt traditionally used for peated whiskeys. The peat smoke imparts light smoky flavours that are unlocked and infused into the final product alongside roasted malt notes. Late hop additions of Nugget add a faint pear and peach character which should ignite familiar heartland memories of Ireland.

Cask at King and Castle, Windsor. Thanks TBois. Pours brown with thin head. Aroma of toffee, fruit cake and a little smoke and peat. Tastes a big smoky, peaty hit with malts and fruits in the background. OK beer and about the level of a Spoons special

Cask at the Tilly Shilling (JDW), Farnborough. Reddish copper with a ring of white head; fruity aroma with a touch of smoke; sweet apple juice taste with a pelasnt light peaty body; the smoke gives a lingering dry finish with some caramel. I’m not a fan of the style, but this is quite subtle and better than many smoked beers I’ve tried.

Cask handpull at the crosse keys. Mid copper coloured pour with a lasting loose greyish head. Aroma is little TCP medicinal smoke, some dried fruits, raisin and nutty malts. Flavour is composed of base nutty malts, smoked phenolic malts, TCP, little berry. Tangy red currant finish. Palate is medium light bodied, lowish carbonation, little thin. Lingering smoked fruit. Little too medicinal for me.
