Bottle thanks to Dave, shared at the 42nd floor tasting, take 2. It pours black with a decent light tan head. The nose is rich, juicy, perfumed, blackcurrant jam, Dandelion & Burdock, fruit compote, umami and bubblegum. The taste is bitter, rich roast, creaminess, toast, juicy berry, quite jammy, alcohol warmth, Dandelion & Burdock, charred stuff and bubblegum with a smooth, roasted finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Quite unique for a black ipa. Solid, but probably not to everyone’s tastes!

Tower 42 Tasting 2. Thanks to Paul. Almost clear dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Modest fine carbonation. Bitterish dark malts, some tangy dark chocolate. Bitterness keeps ramping up and it’s slightly skewed. Light finish. Unsurprisingly has a long bitter linger. A tad skewed somehow.

Bottle split on the 42nd floor, thanks to Paulo, 10/11/15. Light black topped with a decent tan covering. Nose is dark fruits, vanilla, earthy hop, straw. Taste comprises aniseed, faint chocolate, pine, touch of tropical fruit, fruit jam, floral notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light peppery spice. Ok CDA but a little overly perfumed and doesn’t really deliver on the ABV.

Bottle shared in London on the 42nd floor - many thanks to Paul. Pours black-brown with a frothy mocha head. The nose holds dark malts, rich fruits, iodine. Medium sweet flavor with oily pine, baking cocoa, raisins, berries. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation and oily texture. Lightly warming on the finish, more oily pine, earth, cocoa, pine. Sits pretty heavy on the palate. So so.
