BrewDog #Collabfest 2015: Last year we thought our annual festival of UK brewing collaboration couldn’t get any bigger. And now here we are, twelve months later and #Collabfest is set to return for a third year running – bigger and better than ever.

Embrace the creativity and ingenuity of #Collabfest! In case you’re new here – each year we hook up our amazing UK bar teams with a local craft brewery and give them a blank brewsheet. What results is up to the newly-fledged partnership...

BrewDog Newcastle and Northern Alchemy teamed up to produce Rambutan a 6% Chinese pear, vanilla milk oatmeal wit.

Keg at BD Sheps, 02/11/15. Hazed orange amber topped with a decent off white swirl. Nose is figgy jam, orange, spice, vanilla essence, caramel, sweet notes. Taste comprises vanilla, icing sugar, straw, sweet malt, floral, faint citric notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so, Ok for style but a little overly sweet and directionless.

Keg at Shep’s bush Brewdog. Collab fest 2015. Hazed golden yellow coloured pour with a fine white head. Aroma is sweet vanilla, prickly pear, gummy bears. Odd. Flavour is composed of sweet oats, wheat, caramel. Pricky pear. Palate is flabby and sweet, moderate to low carbonation. Not a fan.

Brewdog Shepherds Bush. Keg. Hazy gold beer, small white head. Palate is smooth with decent fine carbonation. Light vanilla in to mild floralness, trace of rambutan tang if you are looking for it. Mild pear and a very light touch of apple. Light finish. Bonkers but interesting and drinkable.

Keg at BDSB - London. Pours unclear yellow with a creamy white head. The nose has some doughy wheat, lemon meringue, straw. Light-medium sweet with some dough, simple sugars, biscuit, vanilla creme, more meringue. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, some lemon drizzle, vanilla frosting, wheat bread. Very tasty, albeit pretty simple.

Tap at BD CJ. It pours hazy orange with a small white head. The nose is sweet, juicy, fruity, creamy, lychee, nashi, tangerine and orange. The taste is sweet, oily, lychee, pear, tangerine, earth, grainy, creamy, cereal and spice with a short finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Aroma is quite nice, but flavour profile is unusual. OK anyhow.
