Cask at The Falcon, CJ. It pours darkest brown / near black with a small light tan head. The nose is bitter - sweet, rich roast, charred malt, light acidity, spice and dark fruits. The taste is bitter - sweet , roasted malt, chocolate, toast, some acidity, dark fruits, spice and fruit cake. Light - medium body and soft carbonation. Perhaps a touch thin, but it is a decent enough spiced stout anyways.

Cask @ Sawyers Arms, Manchester. Very dark, but not quite black. It’s a very floral stout, with its nose especially potent in this respect. There’s a few roasted malts to be found, but not many.

Cask at the Kings Head - Mayfair, London. Pours clear, deep brown with a creamy beige head. Charred malts in the aroma with hints of dark fruits. Lightly sweet with subtle ashy roast, cocoa, earth, dried fruits. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Perhaps a touch bland in the finish, but you do get a bit more ashy roast, mild cocoa, slight earthy bitterness and impressions of aged dark fruits. Not bad overall.

On cask @ the Haymarket. Appearance - close to opaque black with a nice head. Nose - molasses, light charcoal and roast aromas. Taste - more of the same, some liquorice and a hint of chocolate. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy yet dry texture and a dry but balanced finish. Overall - very enjoyable.

Cask, shared with Finn at Falcon, Battersea. Dotted spots on the glass. A few patches on the surface of a mahogany coloured body. Chocolate and caramel nose with Yule tide spices. Chocolate flavour joined by anise and nutmeg leading to a mid sweet ending. Fair Yule tide feel (London 29.11.2015).
